Tower Bridge
I just had to include this shot of the golden arches of Tower Bridge, over the Sacramento River. this bridge opens to allow the passage of ships, so don't be caught the wrong side of the gate after the bells ring!

My husband and I are moving to Sacramento, and would love some suggestions on where to live. We will be working downtown, so we would like to live relatively close (10-15 min commute)....we are in our mid 30's and have 2 dogs, and are looking for a funky neighborhood, with at least a few good restaurants, cafe's etc. THANKS
You probably would enjoy what is called the "East Sacramento" part of town.
It's located between J and H street. It's a neighborhood with a lot of charm, very nice older homes, tree-lined streets and small shopping areas with good neighborhood restaurants. It's close to downtown, about 10 to 15 minutes with easy access to public transportation.
Check out the prices in the local Sacramento Bee newspaper at www.sacbee.com
They have a good real estate section.
Good luck.

Congratulations on your escape. You should dry out in about four months.
I would agree that East Sacramento is very nice, but perhaps a bit "pricy". You might want to think about the "downtown area", depending on what kind of a place you want. Area from 16th to 21st street is very intersting....Some of the "recovering" neighborhoods like Oak Park could be a possibility, depending on what you are looking for. Just don't limit yourself too much when you are looking around.
Hello,
East Sacramento is a nice established SFR neighborhood. Consider the nicest of Sacramento. But is pricey like the previous post mentioned. ($600K for 1400 sq ft up to $2M for 3500 sq ft.)
If you like more urban living, then downtown Sacramento has many condos and lofts that are ($450K for 1200 sq up to $1M for 2500 sq ft.)
I would recommend Midtown Sacramento. You will have a mix of condos/townhomes/lofts with SFR. It's 5 minutes from downtown and it has a abundance of good restaurants and night-life.
If you need more info or realtor recommendation, feel free to contact.
Regards,

I found myself being drawn to this monument, without knowing what it was. It is a monument to those citizens who gave their lives in the Vietnam War, and, personally, I have never seen any other monument like it. I found it rather difficult to walk away from it, and took several photos of the lifelike figures.
Gives you a lot to choose from in the menu and not overly expensive
The location is great because it's on the main street that goes down downtown Sacramento it's next to landmarks and good ambience hmm favorite for me is a hammer 4 great because it's not too big and they have great milkshakes my fav is the strawberry or the vanilla
Nationwide Freezer Meats serves THE BEST HAMBURGERS IN THE WORLD!!
I am not kidding - they are to die for.....and the home cut fries are superb! The hamburgers they serve are so tasty, juicy, and flavorful....
unlike any other burger you've tasted before.....
The State Capitol in Sacramento was built in 1874 and is noted for its large glass dome. There are free guided tours of the main building and chambers. Included in the building are seven historic museum rooms depicting state government at the turn of the century. Depending on the time you visit, you can also see the California legislature in session.
Gray Davis (a democrat) is the current California Governor.
