    Old Town Cottages are old, refurbished duplexs located on a side street within walking distance to the most interesting area of Old Town San Diego and about three blocks from Interstate-5 exits. Each unit has a patio or small yard, complete with a gas barbeque and table & chairs for dining, having a drink or just sitting outside to watch the sunset. A hedge of brightly colored bougainvillaea surround the units, affording the guests seclusion from view on this residential street.     Old Town Cottages are an alternative for families traveling with children or anyone who would like two seperate sleeping rooms. This one bedroom apartment offers a queen sized bed in the bedroom and a queen sized pull-out sofa in the living room. Towels & linens, maid service and an on-site laundry are provided as well as a fully equipped kitchen to cook in and for anyone who would like a little outdoor living while staying in San Diego each unit has it's own gas Barbecue. These small apartments are clean, fully equipped and colorful in an old, pueblo style, with bright contrasting fabrics and shiny terracotta tiles. Low Season $109.00-$119.00 per night. High Season July- Aug $139 per night.

    We didn't stay in this B&B altho it is quite lovely from the exterior. These victorians were saved in an area called Heritage Park right next to Old Town San Diego. It would be an easy walk to the shops and restaurants in that area. Known as the Christian House, the 1889 Queen Anne Mansion has 12 antique filled guest rooms. They boast feather beds and claw foot tubs...whirlpools and fluffy robes. there is a full candlelight breakfast and afternoon tea on the veranda. They show a classic vintage film nightly. Honeymoon suites are available.

    Very Victorian....if you like the frills.

    When you arrive at this hotel, the first thing you will notice is a wonderful crowd of youthful party seekers enjoying the bar scene at the W. This is great for the vacationer... but if you are here on business, you might consider a different local. After you head up the dark stairway to the elevators, you will notice how noveau the entire place is... Once inside your suite, you will see a wonderful blue and white bedspread that lets you know you are home... that is if your home is in the Modern Art Museum!

    We stayed in a suite which was clean and quiet....basic. A very simple breakfast and rather poor coffee is included with the room and is served on the 4th floor from 6:30 - 9:30 am. There is a "fitness center" where I used the bicycle and one could use the weight machines. Very small and really minimal. The lobby was comfortable enough. Game machines around the corner for youngsters. Vending machines and a money machine were also provided. You need a car to do anything from this hotel. You cannot walk to restaurants, shops, or anything interesting. Freeway is all around. Parking is provided for free for the residents.

    Travelling with kids or wanting an inexpensive spot that allows you to jump in all directions....this would fit the bill. For me it was too basic, inexpensive and uninteresting. I would rather be a bit more pampered when on vacation. Choose a downtown hotel or one where you can walk to Old Town if you want a place where you can walk to amusements and good coffee.

    While out in San Diego on business, I would definitely recommend this hotel as your place of residence. Its close proximity to the convention center, the gaslamp quarter, and the rest of downtown San Diego makes this ideal. You can also enjoy a good cup of coffee on the first floor.

    Nothing unique here... except the Heavenly bed... a Westin signature.

    Fantastic experience staying here. I must say, the outlook of this inn is not attractive, if I were driving alone the way, I will choose another inn / hotel instead of here. But once I get into the room, the only thing I can say is "Wow" "Wah" "Wahhhhhh....." SO... BEAUTIFUL. There is a jacuzzi inside the room, just facing the ocean and sunset! Fantastic!!! King size bed with down feather pillow and nice Chinese embroidery. 0urdoor warm water pool facing the oceam cliff and sunset as well. What else can I ask for?

    The San Diego Zoo offers several programs for Children and Adults to spend the night at the Zoo between the months of April and October. This is expensive, but the price of the event goes towards the research and care of the animals that the SD Zoological Society work so hard on.

    Each program offered gives the guest an inside/behind the scenes look at the workings of the Zoo to care for and protect it's animals. This is a fun and educational option for all animal lovers and it is something unique to do. Check out the Zoo's Seepover Program website for current prices and dates.

  • The Ymca on Broadway in downtown SD is very clean and there are no bugs!! I have stayed here twice, both times i was moving here and needed a place while apartment hunting. They have very reasonable daily and weekly rates. Each room has a TV and the front desk people are very friendly. You do have to share bathrooms, so bring some thongs to wear in the shower. These rooms are very simple and are not for everybody. But if you are on a budget and are easily pleased this is where to stay in SD. Besides, with this beautiful city, you will spend very little time in your hotel room.

    There is a great place to have breakfast connected to the YMCA. The pancakes are fabulous! There is also laundry facilities and you can use the pool and workout areas as well.

    Easy to reach by car or plane (the airport is virtually next door), the Sheraton East and West Towers have every advantage of a great location. Fine harbor or skyline views are available from every room above the 3rd floor. At the East Tower lush landscaping, a pair of outdoor pools and evening activities suggest that the Sheraton is targetting the family resort market. The weekend we were there children certainly had the run of 'club level' floors, the pools and the fitness center. The Disney-movie-on-the-lawn was perfect for them, too. The hotel even supplied free popcorn. Reception area facilities, the Harbor Inn dining room and lobby bar all open onto a terrace that overlooks the marina. Its a lovely view. Rooms were well-furnished, including coffee maker, and very comfortable. Easy-access parking is a plus.

    While room service was friendly and efficient , there seemed to be a service 'disconnect' operating in the dining room. With little or no notice, the breakfast room was changed from day to day. Wait staff were hard to locate and were often brusque, if not downright rude. Dinner service was inattentive. For the near-luxury rate charged for club level rooms a higher standard of service would be expected.

    Another business trip (what else!) This Embassy was in great condition, clean, up to date, etc. The location is prime, Seaport village is one block away, Horton Plaza is about a 10 minute walk, and the Convention Center is about the same.

    It has an indoor/outdoor pool, but don't expect to catch any rays. It is a covered area.
