  • This hotel is a well preserved old building in downtown San Diego's Gas Lamp district. The building was built in the early 1900's and is about 15 stories high. It originally was a bank.

    Much of the original design from the bank has been kept. The main lobby has very tall ceilings that are painted beautifully. There's lots of marble and wood used in the design and it has been well preserved over the years. The basement contains the original bank vault that now serves as a conference room.

    Courtyard Marriott in the Gaslamp District As I mentioned above, we got an amazing price for our room. It should have been at least $150 a night, but we only paid $50 because we went through Priceline. I hope you get the same deal and stay here!

    This hotel is gorgeous inside. It used to be a bank, and the lobby has beautiful marble everywhere. The check-in desk is where one of the teller windows used to be. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful, offering me maps and even free coupons for nearby restaurants. They have a pool, jacuzzi and workout room. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Amazingly, we were able to get a rate of $50 a night! That seems unbelievable, right? Well, we went through www.priceline.com. I'm not sure if we had such a great rate because it was the end of September and hotels were willing to accept less money to attract tourists. Either way, we were very fortunate and pleased with the hotel and the price! The Gaslamp District is probably the best area to stay because it has all of San Diego's best restaurants and clubs. You can walk to find anything you need.

  • The Courtyard Inn is located in the heart of downtown San Diego, adjacent to the famous Gas Lamp district. The building itself, was originally a bank, and the reception area is behind the bank teller windows making for an interesting welcome. The rooms are small and plain, and parking is non-existent so expect to park on the street (good luck!) or pay $20/day for valet parking. Despite these drawbacks, the location can't be beat and there are dozens of great restaurants within easy walking distance.

  • The Marriott is a nice place to stay because it is centrally located in the Gaslamp Quarter downtown. It's w/in walking distance of everything shops, restaurants, Ball park, and clubs. It's a bit expensive so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone traveling on a budget. Service is excellent and employees are very helpful.

    The views overlooking the San Diego Bay are amazing and the fresh ocean air is soothing.
