Budget Hotel in Downtown,

Stayed here during July 4th weekend 2011 – it is a budget hotel reasonably priced at $139 per night ($150 with taxes) for a downtown San Diego hotel during the holidays. We were able to find it easily with the GPS, but without GPS, the streets of SD may be confusing. But Ash St is a major street in downtown and easy to find.
They r very strict about check-in time at 3 PM --- and so I returned to small office at about 230 PM and a guest was mad at the front desk for being “rude” in saying that he has to wait for a few more minutes before checking in – guest was apparently driving a long way. But it is the July 4th weekend and very busy. We see the cleaning ladies rushing along to clean the rooms.
Although Expedia said free parking, I still did pay $10 cash to the front desk for one night parking.
The room itself is pretty standard with two queens. Bathroom was clean, but you have to hold the toilet flush down a long time --- low pressure. The beds were comfy and the aircon worked very well.
There is microwave, ref and coffeepot, blower, nice little basket with the essentials….and also a safety deposit box. My wife was just complaining that there is only one trash bin.
Wireless internet is quick (need password from front desk) and no problems uploading to FB or VT, haha
There is elevator available for the rooms.
Parking was full though after we arrived from SeaWorld at about 10 PM, and I had to park at the 10 minute parking slot. Some drivers don’t park exactly at the line…..and so occupies both spots.
There are 44 rooms and the hotel is located 4 blocks from Balboa Park and 8 blocks from the Gaslamp Quarter. Apparently, there is an indoor spa tub – and saunas separate for men and women but I did not get to see it. They have continental breakfast from 6-930 AM which we missed because we woke up late, haha ---- Gotta check out by 12 noon.
Overall for a quick night stay in San Diego downtown, and easy to book thru Expedia for last minute.
