Bed & Breakfast / Vacation Condo

This New England-ish style B & B was built a little more than ten years ago. It is located in the Community of Ocean Beach. Katie and Phil Elsbree who live on site have lent their name to the house and turned it into a great romantic get-a-way as well as the perfect spot for a family vacation.

Unique Quality: Narragansett Avenue is a block south of Newport Avenue and about a half block east of the beach.

During the summer the minimum stay, with advanced reservations is three nights for a Bed and Breakfast room. The price ranges between $150 to $250 per night plus tax depending on the number of people staying in the room. The rooms have a queen bed, a private bath and private entry.

The Condos offered are two and three bedroom suites, one to three baths, a private entry and are competley furnished. The price ranges between $300 to $350 per night with a four night minimum or $1600 to $1800 a week.

If in California, the coastline is a must see. Take highway 1 North from San Francisco. You will see some incredible ocean views. A couple of beaches along the way are worth stopping at. If you make it far enough North be sure to check out Mendocino a small but quaint artist and fishing town.

Torrey Pines State Reserve

by pboyes

The Torrey Reserve has some of the best ocean views and unique hiking trails in San Diego. You can park at the water at Torrey Pines State Beach and hike up into the trails. Many trails end on beautiful cliffs overlooking the ocean and are fun for leisure hikes or jogging trails.

Golfing at Torrey Pines

by Frisbeeace

Torrey Pines is a wonderful public course right by the ocean. Views are amazing while you play close to the cliffs. It is located between La Jolla and Del Mar. There are two Championship 18-hole golf courses, the North course and the South course. Both courses are played by the PGA TOUR professionals during the Buick Invitational of California held each year in February. Torrey Pines South was redesigned in 2001 by Rees Jones and recently chosen to host the 2008 United States Open Championship.

romantic outdoor dining in san diego

by hemelg

I am planning to visit San diego for my anniversary and would like to take my wife out to a outdoor dinner, prefereable on a high rise building ....with open dining on the top floor/terrace. Budget is no issue at all. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

For romance, for dining gourmet excellence, for outstanding views of San Diego, for service, and ambiance, the only dining experience in San Diego to meet your desires, in my opinion, is Mister A's in downtown San Diego, on 5th Ave. Enjoy the website, www.bertrandatmisteras.com........Bon Appetit.

Try one of the Hornblower cruises.
You will be outdoors on the bay on a yatch.
Unless...you do not like the sea.

Well, if you've got to do it in a high-rise, TG has the best suggestion: Mister A's. ( although I don't recall that they are open to the sky )
But when in San Diego, do it as San Diegans do; enjoy the beach. SD is a west coast city, low and sprawling, with a long, beautiful coastline. We have lots of restaurants with ocean views. To really get the flavor of SD you should try one of them.
All of Richmond's suggestions are sure to impress your lady, although I'd put Peohe's in Coronado at the top of the list ahead of them. ( It's a great choice if she likes boats - you can get there from downtown with a 15 minute boat ride across the harbor ) Also on that list should be the Crab Catcher.

OK, I agree with ocean views, but Hemelg asked for top floor, high rise dining. I believe that the Prince of Wales Restaurant at the Hotel Del Coronado gets the nod for most romantic, even voted that distinguished title by San Diego Magazine. Spectacular outdoor terraced dining by candlelight starting off with a sunset view of the Pacific. Very romantic, and also budget cannot be an issue as the dishes are all gourmet quality. Bon Appetit.
