More about Holiday Inn Bayside
Great
by TripAdvisor Member floridonna
We just returned from a week's stay at the Holiday Inn Bayside in San Diego. The room was comfortable, updated, and clean. The staff was so helpful and friendly with the exception of the female bartender.
Hopefully the degree she's working on is not in dealing with people. Otherwise, staff was helpful and pleasant. We only ate breakfast at the hotel and it was moderately priced and very good. Also, the restaurant staff was terrific. Pool nice size and warm. Hot Tub large and clean. We did not have a 'view' but it didn't matter, we were very happy there. We had two comfortable queen sized beds for 3 people.
Convenient to the airport, located at Point Loma, with free transportation not only to the airport but to some local restaurants as well. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
needs an upgrade

Just not as good as others in the area. Only convenient because i've had some business meeting there. Otherwise old decor, outdated rooms, small bathrooms/vanity area, walls needed painting. Not a lot of fine dining nearby. it is close to the train station. I only stay there when i have to.
Nice hotel outside of centre of San Diego
by TripAdvisor Member UK_ANON
We stayed at this hotel for two nights in early September. The location was a few miles outside of the centre of San Diego, however it was convenient for visiting Seaworld. Our room had good views overlooking a harbour. The hotel had a nice pool, and provided complementary towels by the pool, which was a nice touch.
There was free parking on site, with plenty of spaces.
In the evening we had a meal in the Point Loma cafe which is attached to the hotel. The food was good value and of a good quality. In the morning, breakfast was also served in this cafe, and continental breakfast was complementary.

Second hotel of over 5 week travel around the west coast of U.S.A. Second best hotel on the trip only to be out done by Las Vegas.
We thought that this hotel was great value for money, great facilities inc. pool, spa, gym and bar.
Ok its a little bit of a trek to downtown San Diego, but exercise is good for you.
Would recommend this to anyone.
Great Hotel

Stayed here for 5 nights after our trip to another Holiday Inn which was booked over the Internet in National City got mucked up. We called into HI Bayside to see if they could accomodate us, Jason who was on the desk was extremely helpful and within a matter of minutes we were offered a room at a good rate for our stay. The room with a balcony overlooked the putting green and was very quiet. Could not hear the planes. The Cafe adjoining the hotel offered an excellent range of food. What started out as disappointing day down the road turned into our advantage as this hotel was far superior and in a much better location.
Great hotel, very comfortable, close to airport
by A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at this hotel one night to be close to the airport for an early morning flight. Wished we could have stayed here longer. Upon arrival, the room was very large and very comfortable. We requested a king size bed and our room also had a couch with an ottoman, as well as a bar with two stools. The room had a soft, warm and inviting atmosphere. The shuttle was convenient with nice personnel. Would definitely stay here again. The price was right and the hotel exceeded our expectations- a pleasant surprise.
23 Night Stay
by A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed here 23 nights for business. Very, very pleased with the stay. The hotel staff was great, all very polite, friendly and helpful. If you are staying more than a few nights, ask for the oversize rooms in the "towers", they made the stay much more pleasant thatn just a regular room.
Some of the hallways need to be redecorated, the carpet and wallpaper are dated and the hallways could also use more lighting to brighten them up.
If you like to go walking/jogging, great place to stay.
What a pleasant surprise!

We stayed for three nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was nicely furnished and decorated with all the amenities including a fridge. A request for early check in was cheefully accomadated. The Cafe was a treat with a wide variety of entrees at reasonable prices and friendly service. We would stay here again just for the restaurant. As Priority Club members we given complimentary breakfast at the cafe. Weather was warm so we enjoyed the pool. We were given an Entertainment Card rate of $74.50 and will certainly stay here again on our next visit to this wonderful city.

Inexpensive Hotel near the Cruise Ship port
by seagoingJLW
We are looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel near the cruise ship port in San Diego.
We will arrive there on December 7, 2003 and sail on December 8.
Any suggestions?
Joan

Thanks. I received a batch of low cost suggestions. It's only for over night, but I am investigating all of them.

Hi Joan,
Palo is correct...there are many hotels in Mission Valley (where Hotel Circle is located) and the competition for your dollar makes prices cheaper. It's a bit farther from the pier and San Diego Bay, but you may be able to save some money.
Sincerely,
Spartan

What does anybody know about the Residence Inn Marriott downtown at 1747 Pacific Highway? Or about Hampton Inn Downtown at 1531 Pacific Highway?

Why does Hotels.com tell me that Hotel Circle is only 3 miles from the cruise ship pier? I used the address of Anthony's Fish Grotto to get the distance.
