Day trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium

by star8

We are going to the aquarium early September and want to find a good place to get discount tickets. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Day trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium

To go to Monterey only for the Aquarium, although a great place to visit, is to miss out on the multitute of things to see and do in the Monterey/Carmel/Pebble beach area. Consider staying at least one night in a Carmel B&B.

Here are a couple of discount ticket places for the Aquarium.

Here is my bit on the area for review.

Here are a couple of places you may want to visit on the way to Monterey.

Winchester Mystery House. A very interesting backstory, involving the daughter of the famous manufacturer of the Winchester rifle. She basically went nuts and had a construction crew work day and night adding to the house, - for 38 years. Stairs leading to nowhere doors into empty space, why? She was haunted by the spirits of all the people killed by the Winchester rifle.....and she meant to confuse them. Check it out here...

How about the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz...? Really weird phenomena to do with the time/space continuum. Nothing like it anywhere else, - and yes, it is not a hoax. It is real. Take a look....see the video:

A stop in Santa Cruz is always a pleasure. Check out the beach scene there.

Travel Tips for San Francisco

Save money at the mini-markets!

by wilocrek

Much like many of the old world cities in Europe, the streets of San Francisco are full of corner mini markets that are built right into the neighborhood. The offer inexpensive drinks and many of them have deli's that will make you a fresh sandwich for about $5.99 So if your exploring S.F. on foot keep an eye out for this mini markets and treat yourself to a inexpensive snack or lunch!

A typical cell at Alcatraz

by spgood301

This is a cell at Alcatraz. You can look inside them, even enter a few. Not a pleasant place to be-at least not by choice. Next year: free HBO!

By the way, in New York City an apartment this size usually sells for at least $500,000-maybe even a million, if it's in the right neighborhood!

Victorian architecture

by PetraG

As s big architecture-fan I was very impressed by all these lovely VIctorian houses. There are a lot of famous ones like the Steiner's Painted Ladies, the Red VIctorian, the Octagon House or the Haas-Lilienthal-House (picture), but you can find a lot of them just walking around the streets of San Francisco. Just open your eyes and admire the coulors and the style!

View all the bridges and the Bay -

The outer areas are very beautiful -
For some reason the grasses all look so very green in April,
The bay is beautiful during the day, but even more so at night - The food...... absolutely the best halibut with stuffed crab meat ..... Sour dough bread ... yum....

Check out the restaurants on the water ... nice views and guaranteed great food.

visit the San Francisco bay with a boat. I recommend the company Red & White Fleet. It goes from Pier 39 until the Golden Gate Bridge. It's a long trip and it passes just in front of the Alcatraz Island too.
