Hilton Garden Inn SFO.: Easy Come, Easy Go.
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Excellent mid-range hotel very close to San Francisco Airport, the Hilton Garden Inn offers free shuttle pick up and drop off at the airport. However, the drivers are lazy and will not help you lift your bag in and out of the van. But then, why should they...?? One thing about this hotel... You will receive a free cookie upon arrival. And 24 hour internet access at the business center is completely free of charge so you can get your VT fix...! The rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious to contrast with the narrow minds of the petty fools that surround you...!

Try the pool... But forget about the spa, they keep it unheated with a sign that says "out of service"... They save on their electric bill that way, you see...

King George Hotel: Size of the rooms   Compare Rates NEW!

  • Our reservation was for a queen bed room and I think we got the smallest one in the hotel as we nearly did not have any room for the luggage. Furniture was alright, good quality, but I do not understand why they did not provide with a little fridge. I though they will have it for their standards. Next time I will stay in a Hilton (if I can afford of course) Try to get a room in the lowest level as there is only one lift and in the mornings is always on use by the cleaning service

Boutique Property where the innkeepers know your name... and I guess if you look like the Usual Suspects (I suspect I must have) you could even be offered real personal services by their staff. (You want some X mame???) Wow... what the HELL must I have looked like?! Come to think of it, I did have a few freaky things happen there... All good.

They were the host hotel to an annual drag queen event. That was a site to see stumbling into my room one nite quite late. One day i might find the evidence photo of that nite! I jest about all the weird things, but I REALLY like the Triton. GREAT location, GREAT staff, and very personalble. Lots of Home Comforts.

    Sofitel Hotel.: Tickle Me.
  • Tip Rating:

  • On the altar of all egos, reflections multiply infinitely and indefinitely... I must see me... You must see me... I must see you... And you must see you... Just once, or a thousand times... It is like that between a you and a me... Altered states in the stately mise-en-scène of Robert Altman or Ken Russell... Do you prefer Nico singing "I'll be your Mirror" with the Velvet Underground -- or sitting in the back seat with Marcello Mastroianni, lighting up the tv screen late at night, so late at night, the only light in the room, reflecting upon eyes of Nephrite Jade... Which do you prefer, Nico singing "Femme Fatale" or Nico speaking Eskimo, and laughing as you laugh when you feel, unexpectedly, something tickle you where you least expect it...!

    Sofitel Hotel.: Love Me Tender.
  • Tip Rating:

  • Elvis joined us in the hotel lounge that day, live from Taiwan, deep sea diving off Saigon... But this Elvis didn't sing Viva Las Vegas, didn't sing Don't Be Cruel... This Elvis sang "Our House" -- the Madness song, or was it the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young...? Our house it has a crowd. There's always something happening and it's usually quite loud. I'll light the fire, you put the flowers in the vase that you bought today. Staring at the fire for hours and hours while I listen to you play your love songs all night long for me, only for me... And with a pillow upon your face, I'll fire up that porcelain vase, made in Manila, made in Mactan, as the moon shines on, but the night is only alight by the black and white flicker, made in Cinecittà, flicka flicka flicka...!

Adelaide Hostel Hotel: Cheap and Central
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • A short walk from the Market Street and Powell Street area BART station. Adelaide Hostel is cheap and basic. I used it as my base and it served me well. It has a small kitchen and adjoining social area with a TV. There is also free internet access via two computers. The Alelaide website claims that the dorm rooms have a maximum of four beds - this is not true, mine had six beds and it was quite tight. There was only one sink available which was in the room. There was a shower room on the floor with two toilets next door. This was for about 20-30 people. I stayed in the Adelaide twice, on my second time I was placed in a room which took three people. One person in a top (single) bunk and a couple sharing the bottom (double) bunk. It's a bit cosy again and may not suit everyone. However it is cheap and clean.

The website is much flashier than the hostel itself!

  • If sitting on a giant purple semi-circle is your thing, then you'll love this hotel... The pool you see in the background was too shallow, much too shallow for my taste... I like a pool that's deep, with water that's wet... So deep and so wet, you want to dive right in! So why stay at this hotel...? Why not stay somewhere else...? Where the pool is deep and the water is wet... And the gate is open wide...?

W Hotel San Francisco: Upscale, expensive stay in SF   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This week, I had a short trip to San Francisco, so I chose to try out the W Hotel San Fran. I was not very impressed with the hotel, however my expectations were high based on W's normal service level. My room was not ready upon my noon arrival time, which was not a good start. Secondly, I parked my car there... which was $45 dollars a night!!!! Then... at 45 dollars a night parking fee, the valet noticed my tire pressure was low when he parked the car... but did he bother to call my room and tell me? NO... he just wrote it on the ticket, so at 8am the next morning when I had to get to an important business meeting... I had a flat tire to deal with!! Overall, the room is very nice, and the service from the check-in staff was excellent... but beware of the valet!

Hilton San Francisco: SHUT THE F UP ELEVATOR!   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Ugh, well, the hotel has a great location downtown, but I have to agree with other people who have reviewed this hotel....it sucks. For a downtown hotel to offer such crappy service and rooms and for it to claim it's a 4 star hotel....riiiigh. I won't be staying here ever again that's for sure. My room was well sized but the damn elevators kept me up *all* night. It was insane! The walls must be paper thin or something since I wasn't even the closest room to the elevator shafts. Gah. The beds were ok, but sleeping on them was nearly impossible due to the constant and I do mean all night long constant noise. I complained to the front desk and was pretty much ignored. Niiiice. Glad it didn't cost too much to stay here or I'd have pee'd on the carpet or something.

    It's extreme suckage.

Hilton San Francisco/ Fisherman's Wharf: Save your money... stay somewhere newer   Compare Rates NEW!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • When you are choosing to stay in a Hilton, one of the first things you should make sure to do is see when the Hilton in question was opened. My experience has been that the older Hilton's are still charging as much now for their rooms as other similar hotels, but for amenities that are very old and worn out. That is the case here with the Hilton Fisherman's Wharf. I paid a high price, and did not get as nice of a room as I would have liked for the money.
