Affordable hotel at top location

We stayed here for 3 days in April 2004 and were very satisfied. The Hotel is at a central location about 10 minutes walk to Fishermans Wharf. A bus station is in front of the hotel so you can reach any place in town easily by public transport.

Unique Quality: They serve a complimentary extended breakfast buffet which I did not expect to get in an american hotel.

Comfort Inn - a tourist class hotel

by TripAdvisor Member cass165

Read the negative review on the Comfort Inn and thought it was really unfair. I stayed here for a week last October and found it to be very satisfactory. This is a middle class tourist grade hotel. The rooms are well looked after, the staff is nice and there is a buffet breakfast provided each morning in the dining area for free with your room reservation. This hotel is not a high level, full service hotel and that is why the room rates are so reasonable. If someone wanted full service, bags carried, etc. they should go to a higher grade hotel. It would be like going to a hostel and expecting room service. I found the location wonderful, five blocks to Ghierdelli Square and Fisherman's Wharf, within one block of bus lines to downtown, Chinatown and the wharf area if you wanted to ride. The only thing that's a problem is the parking. It can be arranged for free with your room package, but the physical area of underground parking is very small, turns are close and it is not designed for large vehicles. We didn't have any problems, but vans, etc. did. This is basically a good hotel and I would recommend it to anyone who is not looking for the add-ons that are available in a more luxurious hotel. I found it a good value for my money in a city famous for its high hotel/housing rates - even better off season.

Great Place!!!

My wife and I with our 4 year old daughter stayed at the Comfort Inn three nights during the last week of August.

During our stay we found the staff to be very accomodative and courteous. The breakfast, although limited in selection, was very good and there was plenty of food. The room was clean and we had no problems.

It was very centrally located for touing downtown San Fran.

Good value & location if you don't need luxury.

Stayed here 3 nights during our first trip to San Francisco Sept 2004 and were happy with our choice. Not luxurious, but a well kept hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Good value (reasonable breakfast included). Reasonable location - 15 mins easy walk/$6 taxi to Fishermans Wharf. Probably worth the extra for a bay/bridge view room.
Friendly bar across Lombard St, but don't bother with the Italian restaurant. - better to walk to the Cannery area/Fishermans Wharf.

Reasonable Price-Million Dollar View

Just spent the past weekend at the Comfort Inn By The Bay. Found it to be a reasonably priced hotel in a convenient location made even better by the fact that the staff was not on strike like a lot of the downtown hotels. An easy safe walk to the Bay area attractions. Continental breakfast provided is a real plus. I had a top floor room and found the Bridge/Bay view to be fantastic. My only complaint would be the traffic noise which is understandable at the corner of Van Ness and Lombard. Overall I was very pleased and would stay there again.

Stayed at this hotel November 13th-15th 2004.....Great hotel.... good value....great staff... close to everything ...walk to Fishermam's Wharf....or bus or cable car close by to other city areas. Heater was broken and the stafff had it repaired right away. Would stay here again.

Good Location

Nice hotel, found a good room after changing a couple of times, away from the lifts and ice machine. Not a bad location, plenty of buses and only a short 10min walk to the water front. Be earlier to get the best car park, very small spaces and can be difficult to move the vehicle around. Would stay again.

Great location!

Great location & value!

Stayed Nov 19 & 20th, 2004. Great room with a view of the Golden Gate. Booked on the Comfort Inn web site & got a managers rate of $89/night!!! The room was spacious, clean & well appointed. Breakfast was included & was a great start for our days of sightseeing.
Neighbourhood was quiet & safe, with a location central to many of this beautiful cities' attractions. Would definitely recommend this establishment to others & will stay here if the opportunity for a return trip presents itself.

What a wonderful, wonderful Guy!

I'm a travel agent in the UK - I have 2 clients who chose the Comfort Inn by the Bay for part of their round-the-world honeymoon trip based on the reviews on this site and some reserach I did for them. Their relatives thought it would be nice to get them a bottle of champagne for Christmas Day - The sales manager of the hotel , Mr. Cruz, has spent his own time buying champagne and arranging for it to be in place for the guests to make their Christmas extra special.

I have tried similar requests with 5 star plus properties (who shall remain nameless) only to be told that it's not possible for me to do. To get a level of dedication and service like this is exceptional and if it's indicative of the rest of the hotel this must be one amazing place.
