Exactly what we needed

This was perfect for us. Close enough to local shops and eateries, and a good walk to Pier 39. Since we were there on vacation for 4 days, we ignored wi-fi, walked to the tourist areas each day, and rode the bus back each evening. We booked for 2 single beds, and were upgraded to a smoking room with a king-size bed. I would recommend this hotel to others because it's off the tourist track, nice quiet room to come back to at the end of each day.

Unique Quality: Very basic, but worth the cost for a get-away. If you want the bling and constant noise of traffic, music and tourists, go somewhere else.

A Great Deal

While this hotel is very basic, it's clean and they give you shampoo and lotion. We also appreciate the free off-street parking and the free wi-fi.

Unique Quality: The neighborhood is the highlight of this hotel. You can walk to 2 movie houses. There are a dozen mani-pedi salons. There is a wide selection of restaurants, from Johnny Rockets to sushi. There's a fresh market. Best of all, there are great places to get coffee in the morning and none of them are a Starbucks! (The Grove at Chestnut and Scott was my favorite, but Judy's was good too.)

Budget Accommodations In The City By The Bay

San Francisco is a popular destination all year round. As a result there are hotels, motels, B&B's all over to accomodate the weary traveler. One of the most desirable and inexpensive spots in the city to find clean, friendly and not overly priced accomodations is out on Lombard Street in the Marina district. There are literally blocks of hotels, motels and inns lining the neighborhood. Here is a sample listing of some nice spots which offer a variety of amenities at lower than the usual rate hotels in San Francisco.

These are just a few of many which are located in the Marina District. This district is perfect for the traveler as it is conducive to our MUNI (municipal railway system) buses which from this area can get you to all the major tourist attractions in a heartbeat. One block down on Chestnut Street is a lively little neighborhood consisting of shops, boutiques and some great little restaurants geared towards making your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
