Excellent location
The rooms are of adequate size. We weren't falling over each other and the bathroom is comfortable enough have a good sing and dance in the shower of a morning or evening!
The rooms have a bathroom, TV, wardrobe, drawers, alarm clock and desk (with notepaper and pen).
All rooms are accessible by lift or a staircase.
The hotel is clean, likewise the rooms, bathroom, internet area, seating in the lounge, corridors, lifts etc.
The staff are very polite and friendly, they will help you in any way they can.
If you decide to have breakfast in the hotel, it is served in the bar next door (accessible through the hotel).
Personally, I need a little more in me to start my day exploring San Francisco. Be prepared to wait at least half an hour before a table is ready, then again for drinks and then for food after booking in.
The quality of the food is good, the eating and waiting areas are clean and pleasant, and you are mostly greeted with a smile.
If like me, and a large cup of coffee is needed at the start of each day, you are never too far away from a Starbucks! Nearest one to the hotel being a 3 minute walk away on the oposite side of Geary Street.
To use the internet area, you must purchase minutes at the front desk. You don't have to use all of the minutes at once. The area is a room which is quiet and can only be accessed with a room key.
All-in-all I would recommend this hotel.
Unique Quality: Concierge service.
There may be a tiny que to see him, but it's well worth the wait! These people are fountains of knowledge. They happily, and with humour, answer your questions. They will book taxi's for you, tell you how to get to a certain place and how long it will take, mark out maps to show you the route (which are free) and tell you where you can go for something to eat.
The chap that helped us on a few occasions was lovely. We always left him smiling!
This service does have service opening & closing times.
Location.
As a tourist, it is the hub. The tour buses stop here, the walking tours can be picked up here, public transport is easily accessible, there are 100s of shops, places to eat, bars to drink in and China Town is on the doorstep.
But if your idea is to sit outside with a latte, soaking up the sun and breathing in the atmosphere (and I don't mean pollution!) and people watching, then the middle of Union Square is the place to be.
You could easily spend hours here without exploring the surrounding streets.
