Make this your first stop in the city, especially if you arrive by B.A.R.T. The Powell Street station opens up into Hallidie Plaza practically at the front door of the center. The plaza is at the intersection of Powell Street and Market Street and there is a cable car turn-around next door. Free maps and guidebooks, as well as brochures for activities can be found here.
