Great Stay
We stayed two nights in this hotel, we had booked a room with one bed, but when we arrived we received a free upgrade to a room with two queens. The room was big and had a nice bathroom. The breakfast was complimentary and consisted of hot items, cereals, breads, muffins and some fruit. The breakfast area was always busy, but they replaced everything very quickly so we never ran out of anything. Definitely a good stay!
Unique Quality: Good location, right by Fisherman's Wharf.

Nice and cheap. I think we paid $99.00 a night. We stayed here, because we were going on a day trip to the Farallon Islands, in which the marina was right around the corner. Free shuttle to the marina. Good restaurant onsite and free parking. Next to the Bay Bridge, so driving into SF was really no problem unless it was rush hour. Very close to Berkley, so this place would be a good place to stay if visiting UC. Hotel will shuttle you to the BART if you wanted to get into SF that way. Nice view of the bay if you had a bay view room. Good restaurant. Free parking.
Great Location

This Hotel is in a Great Location to visit all the attractions that SF has to offer. The rooms are of a nice size and we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The only small problems with this hotel are the cost of parking and the walk from the main reception/car park to their Beach Road location (although this will obviously not be a problem if you stay in the main block). Would still recommend.
Great place/great price

Stayed at HI Express 9-16 thru 9-19. The hotel is new, clean and a great value in an over priced city. It's close to the Wharf, but far enough away that you miss all the noise. Call the hotel directly for price comparison. Will definitely stay here again.
Nice clean hotel

We stayed in Holiday Inn Express for three nights 11th-13th September. We did'nt make same mistake most made by going to wrong Holiday Inn,it pay's to check detail before you arrive!Very helpful staff, room clean and spacious we looked onto courtyard so no noise. Was not very impressed with Fisherman's Wharf itself, was a bit smelly and dirty.Had a lovely meal at Cioppino's,an Italian not far from our hotel.Union Square was a nice place to wander around, found the sale's assistant's in shop's most helpful and courteous.Alamo car hire was an experience we did'nt expect. We arrived at 9-30am to find a queue out ot the door and two assistant's working and answering phonecall's.As we had pre-booked in England we had no option but to wait.We finally got our hire car at 11-20am!Would certainly urge people to visit Alcatraz,we did evening tour, and also suggest you pre-book beforehand as we did.It cost $94 for four of us and was certainly worth the money.Suggest a visit to Carmel and Monterey also.We stayed at Hofsas House hotel in Carmel. Will certainly go back to these place's.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Fisherman's Wharf and loved the location. The hotel was also very good even though the employees were on strike and they had help in from other states. They allowed us to check bags we didn't want to carry on side trips and we found that very convenient. The tour to Yosemite was awesome and the Ahwahnee hotel was a great spot although the carpet in room needed to be replaced. We also liked Monterey. We found the sightseeing tours very reasonable. Very nice vacation!
Very good hotel

We found this hotel perfect for our few days in San Francisco and good value for money compared to what some of the other hotels charge. Our room was spacious and clean. We overlooked the courtyard and didn't hear any outside noise at all. I wasn't expecting much from the complimentary breakfast but was very pleased with the large selection of donuts and pastries as well as cereal, toast and fruit. The free internet access also came in handy. The hotel is just around the corner from fishermans wharf and also within walking distance of The Cannery which has lots of restaurants.
Good Hotel , Good Location, Good VFM

As a travel agent for Ebookers in the UK my partner and I stayed here from the 6th-8th November. We were impressed with the location of the hotels as it really could have been no better for Pier 39 and the cable cars....The only thing that mildly upset me was that the cost of the parking was 28 US Dollars per day....We where also told that there was a protest outside the hotel from 7am until 10 pm for both the days we were there...This did not effect us THAT much but was slighlty off putting. But the hotel offered us the parking free of charge (and some local calls) for the inconvenience of the protest which did make a very big impession and made up for the problem. I would definitely stay at the hotel again as the location, rooms, cleanliness, staff were great !
Excellent Location, one of the decent hotels in the area.

The HI Express Fisherman's Wharf is an ideal Hotel for a typical stay in San Francisco. You could either have a room with a Bay View, Street View or a view of a courtyard type area.
It's only a few years old and hasn't aged from what I could see. The hotel offers free internet access in it's rooms with the use of the supplied network cable. Free Breakfast is provided in the morning between 06:30 and 09:30, a selection of fruit, cereal, donuts and muffins etc together with Coffee and Tea etc.
Most hotels in San Francisco are having a staff disbute at the moment, which means that staff are outside protesting about recent changes to their working conditions. This action doesn't seem to be effecting hotel service, however I understand that they were not placing guests in rooms which would get disturbance from the noise.
Apart from that, I'd stay at this hotel again without problems, Pier 39 is around a 6 minute walk away, there is a Starbucks around the corner. A Tram link is just one block away taking you from Fisherman's Wharf to Castro via Market.
In regards to prices, try and checkout the InterContinental Hotel Groups website for prices first as they tend to sometimes offer Internet only offers.

Places to Stay

I am travelling to San Fran with my husband and my friend for a weekend. Ideally we would like to stay in some sort of suite, so we can share costs but still have our privacy.
Have so far found the Chateau Tivoli, which looks beautiful, but looking for a few more options (possibly cheaper). Does anyone have a recommendation for someplace similar?

The Holiday Inn Express San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf is a very nice hotel and it's located in a great location, but it would be your typical 2 queen bedroom for around 170.00 a night.

These motor inns are some of the nicest low-mid budget hotels in San Francisco. ($70-$130)
