Right next to the Action

If you are planning to take all these different tours of the San Francisco area, the starting point for all of them is at Fishermans Wharf. This hotel is right beside Fishermans Whaf making it very convenient to do the tours. So whether you are doing Napa Valley, Sonoma, even Alcatraz, you are right next to the action. And there are a lot of places to see in the area

Unique Quality: Location is its best quality

Great Location, iffy privacy/service

Service was more miss than hit but was passable. Felt like I was purposefully lied to about amenities that were clearly in black & white on my reservation (breakfast for two) but they tried not to provide. Rooms are not very sound proof but were clean and adequate. Kiosk in the lobby for printing of airline boarding passes looked like a good deal but we didn't use it. Restaurant prices in the hotel are outrageous ($16.95) for the breakfast buffet. No control over the 'business center' so people were there using it that were not even hotel guests. Concierge had an inattentive, laziness, and overall lack of knowledge about him that really annoyed me both days I tried to get service.

I probably would stay again but I definitely would look elsewhere as well. If the service was better I'd really not have too much bad to say (other than THIN walls & windows).

Unique Quality: Location, location, location. Those are the 3 standout things I can say about the hotel.

Hotwire.com WARNING

My experience with booking hotwire.com while in San Francisco was not a pleasant adventure. Upon arrival at Fisherman's Wharf Holiday Day Inn, I was informed the only rooms available at the hotel when booking with hotwire.com were SMOKING ROOMS. I was offered a non-smoking room at twice the hotwire.com quote at double the amount at the desk.
BEWARE travelers, if you are not a smoker, you can be placed in a terrible smelling smoking room when booking through www.hotwire.com

Unique Quality: Convenience but not worth the savings if staying in a smoking room.

Just a place to sleep

We originally had booked our stay at the Holliday Inn Express (one block away) but upon arrival they didn't have a room for us. So they gave us a discount at this hotel. The room was noisy, expecially in the mornings when buses went up and down the street and stopped at the traffic light just outside our window. Location was great if you like the touristy stuff. The best part of the stay was the hotel's buffet breakfast, which they gave us free as compensation for having no rooms for us at the Holliday Inn Express (an $80.00 value every morning of our stay).

Unique Quality: Central location at Fisherman's Wharf.

Not too bad

I selected the hotel myself as it was conveniently located at Fisherman's Wharf, which makes it ideal as a starting point for your trips. Don't take this hotel but take the Holiday Inn Express next to it. It's cheaper and the view is better as this hotel's view is blocked by another company.

Breakfast is quite good, especially if you take the buffet for $9.50

Great Free Breakfast

This hotel was in a great location. Just a couple of streets up from Fishermans Wharf on North Point Street, it is also really handy for the Cable Car terminus.Hotel was immaculate, and the staff were very helpful. Not much of a view from the bedroom , but we were hardly ever in, and when we were it was dark, so it made no difference at all. I would stay here again if I get the chance to go back to SF.

Unique Quality: There'a a free continental breakfast included in the rate. Large choice and although it gets very busy, the stocks are replenished all the time. If you are travelling with children, this will save you a small fortune! Two computers seyt up in the lobby with Internet access (free). Great for keeping in touch with family back home.

Location, location

We had a large room, with big TV, and sink & fridge. The service was friendly but occasionally overwhelmed with large groups checking in & out. Breakfast is a highlight and well worth staying here, but make sure you arrive on the early side to get the best selection. There is free internet connection, if you can find where they hide the computers. Definitely recommended for families, as its close to Fisherman's Wharf, the cable car lines, and the bus routes. The Powell-Mason cable car route is nearer & less busy than the Powell-Hyde line. The 30 bus route runs up to Union Square.

Unique Quality: This hotel shares a pool with the Holiday Inn down the road. Some of the rooms have a view across the bay towards Alcatraz. The trams can wake you up in the morning, as the tram stop is across the road, but you may need the early start to get a good breakfast.

Late arrival at airport

Due to our late arrival in SF from Toronto, it was close to midnight before we retrieved our luggage and rental car. Consequently, we had booked a room near the airport - at the Holiday Inn Express only a few minutes away in Burlingame.

Unique Quality: As usual, we found this establishment to be high quality at a very reasonable rate. A complimentary breakfast was also thrown into the mix! The whole deal cost us US $54 including taxes.

Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf

Unique Quality: The hotel is located just steps from the Fisherman's Wharf. Pier 39 is reached in minutes and the cable car turnaround aswell. The best thing I found was the shower. After a longdistance-flight there is nothing more relaxing than a shower with a massage-function. You'll love it! The rooms are very spacious and there is a parkinglot in front of the hotel (fee $17 per day).
