A great little hidden gem

I searched EVERYWHERE for a place to stay that had both a kitchen (I have food allergies, so I need to cook) and allowed pets, while fitting into our budget. I'm so glad I found this place! It's right off Lombard Street, close to some neat landmarks like the Golden Gate bridge, Marina, and Palace of Fine Arts. Yet if you get an inner courtyard room, it feels like it's really secluded and quiet. I was here for a week, working in the room on my computer, so I wanted a place where I'd feel safe and not be disturbed much. This was perfect for that...I loved looking out the windows at the gorgeous bougainvillea plants in the courtyard, and there's even a little dog run to take my dog to for quick bathroom stops. The rooms are older, but have nice new furnishings. Basically if you're wanting a slick modern hotel with restaurants and pools, this is not your place, but if you want to experience the city and stay in a cute little studio, this is great. I'm coming for another week in the summer, and will probably stay here again.

PROS:
-- Great price for everything you get
-- Full kitchen
-- Allows pets
-- Quiet and safe
-- You get your own garage to park in
-- Comfy beds/pillows

CONS:
-- Rooms are a little small...not recommended for big families that need a lot of space to spread out, but perfect for two
-- Radiators to heat the room...I'd suggest bringing a small space heater if you get cold easily
-- If you plan to cook a lot, you might need to bring a few necessities that I couldn't find, like a cookie sheet and paper towels. Otherwise, they have pots, pans, bowls, and basic dining stuff.

Unique Quality: The courtyard is adorable...lots of pretty flowers and nice murals on the walls. It makes you feel like you're NOT smack dab in the middle of a busy city! A nice escape. :)

San Fran's Secret Hideaway

We stayed in this little motel while racing @ St. Francis Yacht Club. Great little motel in posh Marina district. Small rooms with full kitchens for under $100. Reminded me of little Mexican hotel. Parking included, beautiful flowers falling all over the two story building. It's a main street but hidden away. Everything nearby. Check it out - www.marinamotel.com

Unique Quality: Great location; reasonable price; full kitchen; parking
