    Marines Memorial Club And Hotel

    by

The Marine Memorial Club and Hotel was created in 1946 to honor the Marines who died in the Pacific Theater of WWII. The club is considered a Living Memorial with a series of displays in the lobby to commemorate the history of the USMC since its inception in 1775. The 11th floor of the hotel hosts the General Ames Library/Museum and the rest of the building is covered with autographed paintings, authentic artifacts, and plaques memorializing key events in Marine history.

Besides the museum, the Marine Memorial Club is also a hotel! It has various rooms and suites starting around $250 for non-members, but only about $90 for club members. The hotel features a fitness center, pool, theater, and a few restaurants and lounges.

For All Military Personnel, Both Old & New

    by

"A tribute to those who have gone before; and a service to those who carry on."

The Marines' Memorial Club & Hotel started life in 1946 as a memorial to those Marines in the Pacific arena who lost their lives during WWII. The concept has since been expanded to include all military personnel, active, reserved, and retired.

This is a member hotel and, according to the website, membership: "is open to all military personnel who have retired from, honorably served or currently serve (Active or Reserve) in America’s Armed forces. Spouse membership is free and sponsoring parents may also include their children."

Accommodations range from Standard Rooms to Premium Suites, and have been recently renovated. The price of your room includes complimentary Happy Hour with piano music in the bar and a full complimentary breakfast (including that old military favorite, SOS) in the dining room. Both are located on the rooftop with views of The City.

Unique Quality: Friendly, professional, and helpful staff, the Leatherneck Restaurant for excellent dining, a library & museum dedicated to Marine and military matters, health club with pool, ballroom facilities, and a theater.

Directions: Near the corner of Sutter & Mason, just up from Union Square.
