There is a whole neighborhood in SF called Japantown, with plenty of Japanese stores and restaurants. Read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japantown,_San_Francisco

You will want to look in the Japantown area. See the website below for more info on location, restaurants and shopping:

http://www.sfjapantown.org/

I'm sure there are other restaurants and shops where Japanese food may be obtained but this is this best start.

Travel Tips for San Francisco

Underground parkings needed!

by alza

I can't understand why a city like San Francisco can't arrange for undergroung parking in its most touristy places. At the Embarcadero, where thousands of tourists flock all year, they have this huge parking eye-sore across the street.

If you want to tour Alcatraz, make sure that you pre book on the web - http://www.nps.gov/alcatraz/ - there are long queues and you may not make it if you don't pre-book. Seafood and the walk along the fort area.

Do a lot.. Visit as many...

by purvee

Do a lot.. Visit as many restaurants as you can in diffrent areas of the city.. From Japanese to Chinese to Indian to Mexican to Peruvian to Euthopian to Italian to Thai to more.. Lots of cultures meeting in this one little city make it fantastic.. You should also catch some shows or just go at some club to check out the local music scene.. definitely a must.. During Christmas time, go to Nordstorm to see the big Christmas Tree, do the Union street and Union Square thing, to drive up behind the Golden Gate bridge and see a great view to check out Ashbury Height for the music scene to indie films and plays... So much to do and so little time.. Do visit the neighboring cities for other great things such as Napa for wine testing, spa, hot air ballooning, Point Reyes, Clear Lake, Half Moon Bay, and more and more and more.... hmmm. Fondest Memory.. so many I have.. I think it's going to a comedy club or theater or museum or exploring restaurants to sitting at the park on a foggy day and watching the ships sail by..

by califdweller

Go to Chinatown for fabulous Dim Sum at Chinese New Year! Between the great food and the smell of incense in the air,, it is irresistible..... The food! I really miss the the shrimp cocktails on the wharf, the clam chowder in the Boudin sourdough breadbowls, the 40 garlic clove chicken at The Stinking Rose.....
