Indian Summer
by SteveOSF
If I had to pick a time to visit San Francisco, it would be mid September through early October during the so called "Indian Summer." Often, the best weather of the year occurs at that time. The fog lifts, clear skies emerge, and the wind calms. This may be nature's unkind joke upon countless children from the western regions of the City, who after enduring a summer of fog, return to school to stare out the windows upon the sunlight shining beyond the reaches of the classroom.
From the Twin Peaks

View of this wonderful town from the heights of the Twin Peaks.
Laura Palmer was not there, too bad.
A lot of wind, and chill, are perceptible, instead, a lot of them.
Can't remember the name of a famous writer who said that the coldest winter he ever experienced was a summer in San Francisco.
A bit exaggerated, in my opinion, but I've been there twice and it was veeery cold both the times
Cocktails and Conversations

The immediate camaraderie with the VT group was incredible. We quickly found each other upon arrival at the Buena Vista and engaged in friendly conversations the entire evening.
(We never even left the joint!) Meeting some of the nicest strangers on the planet was the highlight of the entire VT MADNESS BLOWOUT weekend in San Francisco

go to the Exploratorium. it's an interactive science museum. It would take alll day to try everything. I still haven't. You could make shadow picture, echos, optical illusions, grow and shrink in one room, and sometime's there's special night shows. It's a great place for kids too. it's next to the Palace of Fine Arts, a real architectural beauty, and the only building left from the World's Fair. Every Sunday I love to go to Hippy Hill. There's always a drum circle, hacky sackers, and usually people playing soccer or frisbee, dancing, doing acrobatics, juggling, or poi. It's at it's height in the early summer. Here people are happy, relaxing, enjuying music, and golden gate park. It's called Strawberry Hill on the park map and if you come in from Haight it just right of Children's Playground.

Go to Golden Gate park and watch a Shakespearean play. You'll love it. The park itself is magnificent, the play is free, the weather is always beautiful. It's like heaven with a slice of Hamlet. I saw A Comedy of Errors, set in Downeastern Maine. All around me San Franciscans had brought picnic lunches and bottles of wine, basking in the summer sun. I had a granola bar and Mountain Dew, which isn't the same, but it's all in the spirit.
