Good Hotel in the Heart of Downtown

The Olympic Hotel seems to be a favorite of traveling youth. I can't blame them, the rooms are clean, extraordinarily reasonable in a city where you can't find a decent hotel for less than $100 a night, and it includes a continental breakfast!

Rooms are available with private bath or shared bath on the floor. The shared bath rooms have their own washbasin in the room. There is also a maid service that changes the sheets every day - just like a regular hotel, but the cost is half of what you would normally pay. The rooms themselves are nice but small and each has it's own TV.

The neighborhood is decent - this hotel shares the block with the San Francisco Hilton on Geary and Mason Streets, so honestly, it's not that bad. If you walk west, the neighborhood deteriorates rapidly, but walking in any other direction is safe and fun. This hotel is two blocks east of Union Square, 1 block north of Market Street, and is surrounded by about 10 theatres within three blocks.

It is very close to public transportation, including both Muni and BART.

Unique Quality: The most outstanding thing about this hotel is the fact that it costs $55 to $85 per room (depending on the season and the bathroom situation) per night AND it includes a continental breakfast. The lobby area is very nice and you would not be afraid to take your mother there.
