A Great Hotel In A Great Location

The Parc 55 Wyndham Hotel is a great 4 star hotel with clean and spacious rooms and bathrooms. Beds are also very big and DAMN are they comfortable. They have big flatscreen TV's to watch and unwind after a day of sightseeing. You can get a great view of the Powell St. station square. Breakfast is not included in the room price but they have menus in the rooms to order from. To tell you the truth, breakfast is very expensive as well as the restaurants that are found in the hotel. As for the room, it is a little expensive but worth the price.
The hotel is in a great location, right outside the Powell St. B.A.R.T station with the cable car turntable right behind it. Union Square is about 5 minutes walking distance and there are many restaurants in the area.

Unique Quality: The big and comfortable bed was outstanding.

Wyndam Parc 55 Quiet Elegance in sanfrancisco

For a weary business traveler this was a nice respite from the hubub of the city below. I was attending the Google 2010 IO conference and found this hotel to be a great deal compared to the conference offerings. It was just around the corner from the Moscone Center West.

Room was comfortable and had a great view of the city. The service at the Wyndham exceeded my expectations and I can see why this hotel is often more expensive than the deal I got on the hotel.
San Francisco hotel deals are hard to find, but if you are patient they are worth the wait.

Sanfrancisco Hotels Cheaper than expected

Stayed at the Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco which is now owned by the Wyndham brand. Sanfrancisco hotels are usually pretty pricey and this one is no exception, but somehow during the 2010 Google IO conference it was cheaper than expected. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Just across the street is one of the Sanfrancisco trolley car stops where it does the 180 degree turn around.

Very nice stay

Second time in town and now we decided that we wanted more from our hotel. When i travel i always want to stay very centrally and this hotel is just one building from Powell street cable car terminal, it has 32 floors.

We booked the "Club room" located in higher floors. Our room was No.2921 . Complimentary continental breakfast for club rooms only. We asked for corner room and we got it. Amazing view!! All city and bay area.

The hotel has many "corner rooms" and don't fail to ask for it. Very clean, very big room and bathroom.

Some homeless people in the area, but not disturbing.

We got a 30% discount as we booked for 5 nights.

Unique Quality: High building (view) and very central.

Comfortable Stay

Although this isn't as well known as the nearby Hilton, it's a pretty good hotel. I had a comfortable stay here. The rooms were clean and well kept. The most important thing about this place I think is it's location. It's about five minutes walk from the BART and the trolleys. It's about two blocks from Union Square. It's near a mall and several stores ranging from the budget Old Navy to the expensive North Face store. There's a Starbucks nearby and several excellent restaurants.

A complaint I do have is that the Wi-Fi is not free. I have stayed in really really cheap no-frills motels... and they've had free Wi-Fi. I just believe that it's nickel and diming the customer if you charge for that.

An OK stay, but nothing special

It's a large hotel with almost 1000 rooms and 32 floors. We stayed on #23 with nice views over the city. The room was alright and clean but the water pressure is weak and it took up to 10 minutes to get hot water. Internet is not cheap either with $9.95. Unfortunately this is from noon to noon, no matter when you check in or out.
Its centrally located near Market and Powell Street with BART, bus and cable car right next door and many shopping opportunities nearby.
We booked relatively late and paid $229 (1st night) and $249 (2nd night). I would only go back if we could get a lower rate.

Basic Corporate off Union Square

After three days of being "pampered" at nice inns and b&bs on the road, the Parc 55 Renaissance was slightly disappointing. As with any big-city, corporate hotel, the little things were missing or cost extra. No coffee maker in the room, no robes, no free continental breakfast, no pool, no free Internet. Local calls cost $1. There was free coffee/tea in the morning on the 2nd Floor. By the by, concierge was rude to us when we asked about airport transportation. :(

This hotel sits right on the line of the Tenderloin. If you go out of the hotel one way (east), you will encounter panhandlers. But on the other side are some nice restaurants and the very short walk to Union Square. Easy to get to public transportation on Market St.

Unique Quality: The view from our 24th floor window was nice, although other buildings blocked out the Bay Bridge and other SF landmarks. The Parc 55 did have a sauna (seemed like no charge - didn't get a chance to try it) and fitness center. Nice Bath and Body Works brand toiletries. This hotel has Air Conditioning, which not many in SF have. We did use it the first day - it was about 70F outside but the sun was shining in (!!!!) and made our room quite warm during the day. Of course it cooled off at night.

We got an excellent deal for this room, so I really shouldn't complain. $99 a night off the Internet for Union Square area of SF, although when we called to confirm, they had us at a higher rate.
Note: Upon checking in, hubby was out feeding the meter, so I gave my credit card for "incidentals." Upon checking out, we gave them my hubby's card for payment. Of course, they charged the room to my card, I discovered when we got home. We had the charge reversed and put on hubby's card without much trouble.

Fairmont or Renaissance Parc 55?

by ndlarr

We are planning a trip to San Francisco and would like to know opinions about which hotel would be better to stay at? It is our 25th wedding anniversary.

Re: Fairmont or Renaissance Parc 55?

No comparison - Fairmont

Re: Fairmont or Renaissance Parc 55?

Ask for a room in the main building. The rooms are much larger and have very high ceilings

Re: Re: Fairmont or Renaissance Parc 55?

First, thanks so much for your reply. We called Fairmont and they said the rooms in the "tower" were newer and updated with better views, but the rooms in the main building were bigger. Is the view from the "tower" worth the extra money?

Re: Re: Fairmont or Renaissance Parc 55?

If you are high enough they are pretty impressive.
I just like the large rooms

I personnally prefer the Parc 55 but that is due to the various meetings I've had to hold there. They were MUCH more accomodating than the Fairmont..BUT...for views of the city..you can't beat being at the top of Nob Hill.

We're booked in to the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins - same area as the Fairmont but much more budget friendly. Book direct and they guarantee the cheapest rate on the internet.

For a 25th wedding anniversary, the Fairmont is the better choice. Agree there is no comparison. Fairmont has that wonderful old San Francisco feel. Parc 55 does not. Parc 55 is like any other large hotel in any other city.

For 25th wedding anniv I would go to the Huntington which is across from the Fairmont. I think that's the best hotel in SF.

Happy Anniv!
