LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION

we just returned from our wonderful vacation in San Francisco. The Radisson Hotel @ Fisherman's Wharf is in the most convenient location. just walk out the door, and you are on the wharf. the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. the rooms were large and very clean. they also have a complimentary computer/printer to print out boarding passes before heading to the airport. i would definetly recommend this hotel to anyone going to San Francisco. Clean, Comfortable (sleep number beds), and Convenience!! I give this hotel an A++++.

Unique Quality: there is a nice pool area with a firepit, which we didn't use. it was very nicely landscaped and the pool appeared to be clean.

Great location but not in the hustle bustle.

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at the Radisson Hotel. The lobby of the hotel is located on Beach Street but there is easy access directly to Fishermans Wharf through the compact garden/swimming pool area. The pool is quite small and there is an outdoor gas fire with a small sitting area. The hotel does not have its own restaurant or bar but there are an abundance of eateries and bars a short walk away.

The hotel is located close to Fishermans Wharf but because of its size it retains a quiet atmosphere even though there were a number of groups (including school children) booked in.

The room I stayed in was not large but clean and comfortable with a king size bed. My rate of $179.00USD per night included free wireless internet and an American breakfast at IHOP resturant located next door to the hotel.

The reception, concierge and cleaning staff were all polite and helpful and I would recommend the Radisson for anybody looking for a mid range hotel in close proximity to Pier 39 and the Alcatraz ferry terminal.

Unique Quality: A coffee cart operates in the lobby at breakfast time selling muffins and snacks.

Great Location...

This hotel is literally across the street from Fisherman's Wharf, and easily within walking distance to everything along the Embarcadero. We did not rent a car, and mostly used the public transportation (The Muni). There is an IHOP adjacent for a convenient meal 24-hours a day, but also some great restaurant options close by.

Cheap Fishermans Wharf

This hotel has the best location in San Francisco, a 2 minute walk to Pier 39 and right in the middle of Fishermans Wharf which is the main tourist area of San Francisco. The room we had was really big with 2 double beds and fantastic views to Alcatraz. The room was serviced everyday and was lovely and clean. The hotel itself has a swimming pool but we didn't go in it being November but there were people in it while we were there.

Excellent spot

Second part of my honeymon in November 2005. This hotel is situated close by to pier 39 (sea lion territory). It was comfortable, good size and well priced. Next door to hotel on Fishermans Wharf is Johnny Rockets Diner and has got to serve the best hamburgers and milk shakes I have ever tasted, well worth a visit.

The staff were very helpful with advice on gettting around and sights of interest. There are not too many other facilities at this hotel (it did have a small pool) but it is clean comfortable and well located.

Radisson Hotels Fisherman's Wharf

Our first night, the room seemed somewhat noisy - I attributed this to it being a Saturday night. The next morning I was awakened by the barking of the elephant seals at Pier 39 - much more pleasant than an alarm clock. I later discovered that a window in our room was partially open behind the curtain. Close the window - no more noise problem.

The room was great. We enjoyed the pool as well. This hotel is as close as you can get to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. It's also on a cable car route.

Unique Quality: The bay side view was great - One can see Alcatraz on a clear day. We watched part of the Air Show from our room.

More about Radisson Hotel Fishermans Wharf

Great Location

by TripAdvisor Member Nelly

This hotel is right on the wharf, well the nearest. So its just a case of walking round the corner where you can take a trip to Alcatraz, a bay cruise or take in the not so wonderful stench of the sea lions! I booked the hotel on the internet and filled in the form to request a smoking room, not realising that California are totally against this bad habit, I consequently did not get a smoking room as the hotel has only 8 such rooms and they were already booked, so dont expect too much, all hotels which state they have both types of rooms probably dont have too many, as smoking is not encouraged in this part of the world not even in bars. The hotel is very clean and has large rooms but does not have a breakfast room, there is a cart selling coffee and pastries etc but its not cheap. A IHOP is located next door which always seemed popular, a whole airline crew came in there the morning I was there, complete with their luggage. Its pancakes with everything so if you dont like them you can go to Johney Rockets for a real American diner experience, you would believe you were back in the 50's, this is located out the door from reception past the very small pool and then you walk in the diner through its back door, when you leave, through the front door you are on the wharf! Round the corner from the right of reception is a 24/7, here you can pour your own coffee-around 12-20 different varieties, always piping hot, very good and inexpensive, they have a selection of cakes and pastries but its take away, also I dont think you could ask for anything they didnt have here in this shop, wine, sweets, chocolate, toiletries. We walked a few blocks to the Cannery and the trolleys leave for Union Square area a further block, the view from here of Golden Gate bridge is great. Travelled first weekend in May and never saw a cloud, photos are fab, blue skies for 4 days. Fishermans Wharf is the best location unless you want to spend yout time shopping for designer gear in Union Square.

RADISSON HOTEL FISHERMANS WHARF

by JAN53

Thinking of booking this hotel for a Golden Gate view room as it seems its the only one that offers this (at least a bit affordable) the price for a view of the bridge room actually doubles but as this is part of a lifetime trip of California from England we think it will be worth it - has anyone actually stayed here with a view room and is it worth it?? Its a lot of money out of our budget and hope it will be what we think. Any other hotel ideas for a view and other tips in general. Look forward to your reples.

The price doubles if you have a view???

I really don't think it's worth it. How much time are you going to spend in your room anyway?
I would pay $40-$50 more for a room with a view but not THAT much!
I wish you a great trip.

Fisherman's Wharf is not all that close (really) to the bridge, and I don't know that you would have all that great a view anyway...if you want a great view, take one of the Blue and Gold (I think those are the colors) fleet trips around the Bay - you go UNDER the bridge at one point (but turn around immediately) and get great views both coming and going. Alternatively, take one of the Greyline tours (bus) that drives over the bridge into Marin County, whereupon you are able to disembark and take lots of photos (our tour got there just after sunset for a very colorful sight).

As Jeannette says, you shouldn't be in your room that much anyway, right? ;-)

If you want to get up close and personnal with the GGB, walk across it,you can take a public bus to the bridge and then a bus back from the other side. Take the Red and White Fleet or Blue and Gold from fisherman's wharf for a view from the bay. One other option is a tour by old fire truck that drives across it.

I saw this hotel on my recent trip to San Francisco. It looked AWFUL! I was shocked that it was owned by Radisson as it looked worse than a motel 6. Personaly, I would not stay at Fishermans wharf as it is very touristy and you could get much more for your money in another part of the city.

The golden gate is sort of hard to view because of its location at the end of the Presidio grounds. Many times, the fog obscures the view, so paying double is a big risk. Actually, what you don't want is a hotel with a view of the ventilator shaft or building across the street. Any view across the city will look fantastic, but as said, you won't spend much time in the hotel room anyway. Browse around some more and post specifics if you can for SF residents to think about.
