Because this is Silicon Valley, I thought there would be Internet terminals and cafes on every corner of every street. This is not the case. The internet terminal I was able to find was at the Kinko's near San Jose State University. And I had to look at least half a day.

In Downtown San Jose, there are green ugly things that are pay toilets. One is located across street from Fairmont Hotel (Cesar Chavez Park) and another one is three blocks away on Market & Santa Clara Street. For something like 20 minutes you get to do your business for a quarter. You insert the quarter and the door opens. You walk in and it shuts itself....after you're done you press a button to open the door after which it closes and the stall cleans itself readying for the next person. Quite interesting.
Driving in San Jose
by MDH
San Jose is linked with several major freeways that extend around the entire Bay Area. In the city itself, there's no less than eight major freeways that criss-cross the entire city. It's no wonder why so many people compare San Jose with Los Angeles.
San Jose is connected with I-280 (Junipero Serra Freeway) which runs from San Francisco, U.S. 101 (Bayshore Freeway) which goes the very length of California and runs right through the city, I-880 (Nimitz Freeway from 1989 earthquake fame) that connects the city with the East Bay, I-680 (Sinclaire Freeway) which connects the city with the northern suburbs and the string of cities that sit directly behind the Sunol Hills, and Highway 17, which connects San Jose with Santa Cruz twenty miles down the coast.
Within the city itself, other major roads include Highway 237 (northern corridor), Highway 85 (southern corridor) and Highway 87 (north/south corridor).
Please beware of rush hour, whether it be in the morning or at night! San Jose's traffic is legendary in the Bay Area, especially I-880 and Highway 17.
Best Cambodian/Thai/Vietnamese food ever!
by Shaft28 about Chez Sovan
Ok, there is a sister restaurant in clese by subburb Campbell which is much nice. That being said- this place is in a ugly part of town and is not much prettier itself.
In fact, this is a whole in the wall with great food. Mostly Cambodian food with some Thai and Vietnamese overtones. Both places owned and operated by one very nice family. The food is outstanding. Oh, the SJ location has limited hours, so be sure to check.
The Campbell location is just down Bascom from central SJ. The meat sticks, the red curry noodles with chicken, the stews, the spring rolls, the green beans and of course the amok!
So good, so different, very authentic.
Beyond description, but so good you forget
what a nasty part of town your in. More industrial than scary, but I wouldn't venture at night.
