You'll probably find the best prices on flights to Europe out of San Fran (SFO). At least I did when I flew to Vienna last month.
There's a shuttle that goes from the San Jose airport to SFO on a regular schedule for $15. website: http://www.montereyairbus.com/
For the best prices, I usually use www.Expedia.com

I always use cheaptickets.com or travelocity.com when booking international flights.

My favorite outlets in the bay area would be...

1) Gilroy Premium Outlets
http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=23

2) Great Mall http://www.greatmallbayarea.com/static/node560.jsp;jsessionid=aciKXjzUuDN684pXV6

There is also one in Napa, however I've never been to that one.

Travel Tips for San Jose

San Jose Giants, great minor league ball

by Shaft28

I used to go to the San Jose Bee games as a kid and loved them. As years passed the Bee's turned into the Giants as their MLB affiliation changed.
Also, the park got a revamping. You can spend a great day here eating bbq, drinking a beer and seeing some really good baseball.
Always a fun day out. Leaving in the bottom of the 9th inning, 1 out, Giants loosing 12 to 4. We had to make a dinner with family and got heckeld by some of the season ticket owners.
It was hilarious. We pretended to be for the other team and got everyone excited. Fans get really into it, but always good natured.

Villa Montalvo

by SJTravel

Villa Montalvo located in the hills of Saratoga, CA was once a working ranch, then a 19-room mansion, now it is a Historic Park. They hold concerts and other performin arts in the evening. During the day, you can walk the beautiful grounds and trails. It is free to hike and park during the day. There are several trails that you can hike that look upon different things. The lookout trail ends at lookout point which provides a beautiful view of the South Bay. From the top you can see Downtown San Jose, Moffet Field, the top of the tents at Shoreline Amphitheatre, and other beautiful South Bay landscapes. The other trails are nice too, some are steep, so be prepared to be walking up and down hills. When you look at the map, the trails look longer than they actually are, so you can actually walk the entire thing in pretty good time. The trails are well marked. There is a lot to see on the trail itself. You walk amongst beautiful redwood trees. Although it was dry when I was there, there looked to be a little waterfall and small river. There are a couple of bridges that are neat as well. Right outside the villa, there is an Arboretum which has trees from all over the world. That is worth a peak as well.

San Jose City Hall

by Ewingjr98

The new San Jose City Hall was constructed in 2005 to consolidate most city services into a single, impressive location. The ultramodern city hall consists of a water garden and a bamboo garden setting the stage for a huge tower of offices (including the mayor's office on the top floor), a bright glass-domed rotunda, and a separate wing of council chambers and committee meeting rooms. The facilities, including a 300 space underground parking garage, cost 382 million to construct.

Contemporary Art

by nomadig about Phillips Gallery of Fine Art

Phillips Gallery of Fine Art is, as name implies, an art gallery specialising to contemporary American arts. The gallery is located on Santana Row area, next to Gucci and Burberry stores, so prepare for hefty pricetags.

The gallery has a good collection of paintings from various artists. Most of the works are oil paintings, but other techniques are used, too. They stock surprisingly many sculptures. The collection of glass sculptures is also spectacular. Their homepage has a lot of images of the artwork.

Family/Group Friendly Italian Feast
