We stayed at the Hotel Sainte Claire in downtown San Jose on 4 November 2006. This is a very impressive and old hotel, beautifully remodeled in the early 1990s. The rooms are clean and large and have free wireless internet (the password is "hotel1" if you happen to be in the area and need access...). As far as I know, the Sainte Claire has no parking except valet, but there are city lots (free on weekends and evenings) maybe 50 feet down the street. The hotel is conveniently located right beside the San Jose convention Center and next to the city's most famous restaurant: Original Joe's. It's also just a 10-15 minute walk to San Pedro Square and the HP Pavilion, home of the San Jose Sharks. Our room was $100 a night, but you can pay much more...I checked a few random nights for March 2007 and rooms were from $209 to $249 before taxes.
Supposedly haunted, we noticed that our room, 411, was right beside room 415. That's right, no room 413...in fact no room 13 on any floor. Even more spooky, this 6-story hotel has no 13th floor! Can you believe it!?!
