Leticia is PAYING!
Hello, Can someone tell me the easiest way to get from san mateo to san francisco. We will be staying in San Mateo, but we are planing to go to san franisco for the day, and if possible nopt to take our car.
Also if you know how far is san mateo from monterrey??
Any help would be apprecaited.
San Mateo is not too far from San Francisco and there are several options to go to San Francisco using public transportation. Where in San Mateo are your staying? The easiest is probably to take your car (if you have one available) and go north on US Hwy 101. Exit at Millbrae and park at the Bart Station. Parking is free at the station.
The other option is to take the Cal Train and there is a station in not too far way from 3rd street in San Mateo.
San Mateo to Monterey is probably 2 hrs, maybe less, depends on how fast your driving is and the traffic. Take Hwy 280 South rather than 101 as it is more prone to traffic around Belmont, then Palo Alto, and Santa Clara.
Thanks so much for your advice. Is the bart station close to fisherman's wharf or ferry building?
We will take your advice and take our car. Last time we parked next to the ferry building and paid 50.00 for parking, it was very convenient but a little pricey. We will be staying at the marriott in san mateo, but spending most of the time in sf. We are coming from southern ca friday very early morning, but we want to stop in monterey for lunch, and maybe santa cruz for some sightseeing before heading to our hotel in sm, then next saturday morning leave our hotel early and go to ferry building farmers market and then spend the day in sf. We then go back to san mateo to our hotel and back home sunday early morning.
What do you think if my plans.
thanks agian for taking the time to answer my question.
From Millbrae BART station, it takes about 45 mins to the Embarcadero Station. Pay careful attention as this is the last station in San Francisco before the train goes to the tunnel under water to head over to Oakland. From the Embarcadero Station it is about a 5 minutes walk to the Ferry Building. To go to Fisherman's wharf from the Ferry Building, you can either walk there, which will take about 30 mins. walking briskly. If you're back is towards the Ferry Building go to the right as that is the way to Fisherman's Wharf.
There is also public transportation right in front of the Ferry Building. Take the streetcars that says Fisherman's Wharf and you are there in 10 minutes.
