William H. Spurgeon Building and Clock Tower 1915
by Yaqui
This is to me the other crown jewel of old Santa Ana. The Orange County Courthouse is the first, but the William H. Spurgeon Building and Clock Tower has to be the second, although they are plenty of other beautiful representation of historic homes, but the Clock Tower stands out. Built in 1915, it was considered an intricate part of the businesses downtown. It was kind of the who’s who’s to have an office here. William Spurgeon was a generous man who had donated much of the land that most of the city of Santa Ana was built on. He has at least four buildings including this one named after him.

Why are you looking here? Don't come to Santa Ana! Spare me the road traffic. Their water tower used to say, "Education First," but I think it says something like, "Oops, it didn't work" now.
The only cool things here are the Bowers Museum, The Bowers Kidseum, the Santora Arts building and the downtown area of Broadway & 1-2nd streets, authentic Mexican food, some really huge houses in the middle of nowhere, and the possibility of getting killed by entering the wrong neighborhood.
Don't do it man. Go to Olvera Street in Los Angeles instead. Eat at Juanitas: third vendor on the left when you walk in the alcove. Fresh tacos.
This is not a picture of Santa Ana. It's a picture of Moose in Philadelphia, but strangely enough, it reminds me of home...Don't go to Philly either.
