One full day in Santa Barbara

by matt.safrica

Hi, we will have one full day in Santa Barbara in September and we're not quite sure how to organize that day or what to fit in. Some of the things we are considering doing are the land and sea tour (Land Shark) and/or the Top Deck Trolley tour through the town. We've also been told that Brophy Bros is a great place to grab a meal.
We'll be staying in Natoma Avenue so we're quite close to the Wharf etc.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated (there are just two of us, no kids).

Cheers, Matt

So much to see and do in Santa Barbara. VT has great pages on Santa Barbara. Just type in Santa Barbara in the Destinations box at the top right of the page and click on go. I have tips on VT for Santa Barbara at webpage: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/736c8/b8758/

I would check out Brophy Bros on yelp first (http://www.yelp.com/biz/brophy-brothers-santa-barbara). It is on the wharf which makes it kind of cool, but there are better restos in SB. As to your day, what are you interested in? The State Street ramble, is interesting for an hour or so, however, the SB Museum is cool. Also, the Santa Barbara Mission is worth a visit. SB has some world class vineyards and winetasting (some have tasting rooms in SB - http://www.santabarbara.com/winecountry/map_santa_barbara.asp), there is also the SB Zoo. Karl

Brophy Bros. is located in the Marina on Harbor Way, off Shoreline Drive, across from La Playa Field and not on Sterns Wharf, known as the Wharf, which is located about a half mile south.

Travel Tips for Santa Barbara

Do the Gorgeous One of Southern Cal

by marinarena

Overall Beauty. Santa Barbara is so attractive, it's ridiculous. Out of the major southern California big cities, SB is surely the prettiest when judging its main streets, sidewalk areas and beach areas. Just look at these shots I've done!

you are not facing West

by Pounder73

Many people do not realize is that much of Santa Barbara Coast faces south. So often when you are waiting for the sunset, it will not disappear over the ocean, but rather the mountains - depending on the beach

Mediterranean climate and culture

by zrim

The weather is beautiful. The Pacific Ocean is a gorgeous blue. Plenty of cafes and small bistro style restaraunts line the streets. Santa Barbara is relaxed. But expensive. A room at the days inn costs in excess of $100 and any room with a view and with ammenities such as a pool is easily going to break the $200 mark.

Old Town

We drove by this area, I think it's a shopping place where many tourists were holding illed shopping bags, walking in and out from the shops here. But I did not find the merchandise appealing while browsing through the windows... looks like those cheap over size outfits one can found in factory outlets in Hongkong.

Santa Barbara: home of "Firsts"

by MissyWQ

Santa Barbara is home of many 'Firsts.'
Multiple Listing idea, Lockheed Aircraft, Movie Studio, one of four sites to start the Internet, Sambo's restaurants, GOO (Get-Oil-Out) Group started to combat Oil Spills and my Cartoon Character, Missy WQ, soon to be launched. Will add more 'firsts' later.

P.S. Oprah sold her place in Florida and moved to Santa Barbara. see photo of her home under renovation.
