Pacific Sands Motel: What do expect for the price?
Dumpy from the outside, but not bad inside. Listen, this is right across from the pier and walking distance to 3rd Street Promenade. People, you are in CALIFORNIA, why in the world are you in your room anyway? Stop staying in your room judging and go out and meet a hot young starlet and tell her you are a producer:)

Pacific Sands Motel: Downmarket Motel
We booked this motel as it was right opposite Santa Monica Pier the end of our Route 66 Road Trip. The location is about the best that can be said of this motel. We may have been unlucky ,but I'm glad we only stayed one night. The room was very smelly and we never found out why.We ended up buying a aromatic candle to try and freshen the air .The whole place was a bit down at heel ,but then it was cheaper than other accomadation in that area.

Radisson LAX: Stay at LAX
Alternatively, you may want to stay at LAX like I did. It was more convenient since I was only in L.A. for 3 nights before leaving for El Paso.
Santa Monica is about 1/2 hour by the Big Blue Bus from LAX & there's service every 10 mins.
US$99 + 14%Tax.
Nearest hotel to LAX.

Four Points By Sheraton: Sheraton Group of Hotels
FOUR POINTS BY SHERATON (LAX).
This is where I stayed on my return from El Paso.
As convenient as Radisson LAX but I'm not so sure about the access to LAX Transit Center where you can take the Big Blue Bus from.
US$65 + 14% Tax.
Almost as good as Radisson but at a much cheaper room rate.
If you are a Starwood Preferred Guest, you may prefer this hotel instead.

Hotel California: Oldie But Goodie
The Hotel California first opened it doors in 1948. Hotel California is the title track from the Eagles album of the same name and was released as a single in February 1977. I have not stayed at the hotel, just stopped in for a visit. We were showing some guest that were visiting from out of town. The ambiance is warm, location spectacular to all downtown activities. This is a must to see and show your guest who are visiting.
Hotel California is the title track from the Eagles album of the same name and was released as a single in February 1977. It is one of the best-known songs of the album-oriented rock era.

Hotels are expensive here, but...
Hotels are expensive here, but if you've got the money, I'm not complaining. Local motels have pretty good price I think, or you can just rent motorhome - the best way to travel hehe
Soft, comfy and beany but look at Bobbie he's not complaining :D

Four Points by Sheraton Santa Monica: Excellent location and good sized rooms
Stayed at the SMFS in December. Its nearing the end of its transformation into a full blown Sheraton and was really good value.
Rooms are spacious , though could do with some extra drawer space. All the things you expect in a US hotel are there huge bed, iron and board, coffe facilities , huge TV , no minibar etc. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant at all times and the bar can be recommended for drinks and food.
The beach and nightlife are 5 mins walk from the hotel, though at night you may want to take a taxi as its only a few bucks. DO hire a car though. This goes for wherever you stay as nothing in LA is easy to get to , however the SMFS has a free carpark and is so close to the freeway that even I couldnt get lost.
Good views (but not all rooms)
