Viceroy hotel - a Muest
by A TripAdvisor Member
I recently stayed at the Viceroy hotel for 6 days. I must have to say, if you are traveling to Los Angeles, you MUST stay at this hotel. The service was excellent and I loved the decor. Very comfortable beds. Great restaurant and fun location. I will definitly return.
What an AMAZING Experience

from the moment we drove up to the porte cochere we were greeted with smiling faces. Viceroy feels like one of those hotels in West Hollywood: chic, beautifully designed, great bar, very cool-but there is NO attitude at this beachside hotel. The service I received from check-in to check-out was amazing. Look out for the Raspberry Lemon Drop at the bar-the bartenders aren't so bad either.

Incredible...

This hotel is unlike anything else I've ever seen. Not only are the rooms (ocean views!), lobby and cool Cameo Bar beautiful but Whist restaurant serves one of the best brunches I've had in eons. We had a cabana, sipped champagne and dined like celebrities!
Sparkling Boutique Hotel

Despite the California rain this March, my husband and I LOVED our stay at Viceroy. The staff was freindly and remembered our names at every turn, the beds were to die for, and the room serivce was top notch. Everyone from the Bellman, to the Front Desk agents, to the Valets really went out of their way to assure that we had a lovely trip despite the near torrential rain. They brought us umbrellas and kept the Lobby cozy and warm and candelit at night - very romantic. We are just trying to find time in our calendar to return this summer!!
Incredible service & staff

Love this hotel! It's a real jewel box ~ incredible design, super attentive service, and amazing beds! Dinner at the restaurant is amazing ~ the chef's tasting menu is so impressive my customer was really impressed. So much nicer than staying at a chain hotel, great value for the money. Staff remembered my name. Will be back for sure.
OK if you can afford it

This is expensive in an expensive town. Decor is modern 70's if that is possible. Very nice amenities, nice size room and very comfortable bed. They charge a bunch and then nickle dime you with $11 internet connection and no WiFi. It's a one block down hill walk to the beach and you have to pass the Shutters (sigh) .. it's an OK value for the price and if you want to feel that you are in South Beach while you are really in LA than this will work for you. For the price I think there are better places in Santa Monica.

Hip and Trendy Viceroy

Very beautiful place. Love the decor. The room is nice, clean, and very comfy. The lobby is exquisite. The only draw back we found was the elevator and hotel corridors are a little bit too dark. The hotel is definitely not for kids or older folks. The place is geared for a younger crowd, and filled with 20's and 30's hollywood wannabees. Pool side area is quite crowded both day and evening, and more of a social scene. We had dinner at the hotel, Whist, the food and service were excellent. The hotel is close to the beach but not on the beach as we expected. However, it is conveniently located within walking distance to the third street promenade, and santa monica pier. We would recommend staying at this unique hotel.
Nice Upscale Hotel
by A TripAdvisor Member
It was a really nice upscale hotel! I am not that I would spend that much again since we spent all day AND night beachside, but it was definately a great place to lay your head. Nice comfy beads and beautifull showers. Is worth the money IF you plan on staying in your room ALL DAY!
Cool, well-designed and welcoming

The Viceroy is a well-designed hotel with well-appointed rooms and a good location. We stayed on the top floor which affords the best views and found the room well equipped and comfortable.
The staff are pleasant and welcoming, but the odd individual can let a team down. One of the concierge team proved frustrating in the weeks leading up to our visit, failing to return calls or e-mails. When we finally met him, he then was unable to recommend a local place to eat that was not "upscale" (we wanted casual). Perhaps in the wrong job...(unlike the female member of the team who was wonderful).
The bar and restaurant were both superb. Brunch at Whist was as good as we had been told and the atmosphere in the evenings was cool, but not achingly so. One gripe - on the night we arrived we were not allowed in the pool bar area as there was a function on. This was a little frustrating for guests who pay to use all the facilities and not just some. After an 11 hour flight, our inability to drink in the Californian evening heat was irritating.
One final comment - get better coffee. And if they don't, go across the road to Cora's which makes fabulous lattes!
