Travel Tips for Sausalito
Sausalito Seal is Back on it's Rock
by jessicadf
One of my favorite monuments in Sausalito is this seal statue. It's mounted atop a rock which is submerged under the bay most of the time. In one of my travelogues you'll see that it was knocked off its moorings during a storm in 2004. Locals love the statue and paid to have it cleaned up and remounted. Yayyy!
Everyone Likes Sausalito

Sausalito bases its economy on tourism and it is a favourite destination for those visiting the San Francisco area. I thought it was just a delightful and charming area to stroll around, although my visit was just a short stopover when visiting San Fran. Buy an ice cream and go for a wander. Bridgeway is the main street and the tourist's paradise.

Amazing French dinner for only $14.75
by Heartfulart
Between 5 pm and 6 pm EVERY DAY Christophe French Restaurant offers an "Early Bird Special" for $14.75. I've listed it in "Off the beaten path" because it's not right downtown Sausalito. It's walking distance, but almost a mile. It's worth it. Directions: Walk north on Bridgeway past Wells Fargo, past Casa Madrona, past the gas station, past Paradise Bay, and where it looks like the town is ending and the road narrows, keep walking. Around the curve in the road, you'll come to a stoplight. You can see 7-11 and a bus stop on your left, and 1 block more and you can see the restaurant, also on the left - at the corner of Spring and Bridgeway. If you are driving, there is parking behind the restaurant. The price doesn't include wine, coffee or tip. I've chauffered my customers here on my way out of town and they always leave a note on my gallery door how much they enjoyed their experience. Definitely romantic, but any occasion is worth celebrating here. I've included photos from my 2005 staff birthday party so you can get a glimpse of the presentation and interior. Bon appetit!
See some sick pups

The Marine Mammal Center is located near the Pacific Coast in Sausalito. The Marine Mammal Center is a non-profit organization that rehabilitates sick and injured marine mammals such as sea lions, elephant seals, harbor seals and sea otters. Hundreds of volunteers take on the responsibility of feeding, caring for and providing medical care, with the ultimate goal being a return to the wild for each animal. Quite a place!
Incredible views
by jessicadf
When you climb the chicken ladder to the top of the hill, you see some of the most beautiful views of the San Francisco Bay. This picture shows you a little of Richardson Bay (Sausalito), the San Francisco Bay, Angel Island is front and center, and the tip of land to the left is Tiburon. Fringing the photo are oak and bay trees, which cover the hill in Sausalito.
