Alisal Guest Ranch & Resort

by bruingirl about Alisal Guest Ranch & Resort

You can bring your wine and pay a corkage fee. It is located on the Alisal Guest Ranch. They have a golf course here and if you sit outside, you can have a nice view of the lake by the golf course. Beautiful decor and has a very extensive history of old movie stars frequenting this place...back in the day.... The menu changes all the time, but pretty much everything from the duck dishes to the fish dishes are just absolutely scrumptious!

River Course at the Alisal

by Safaristars

The River Course which is part of the Alisal Guest Ranch was built in 1992. This is an 18 hole course with amazing views of the Santa Ynez mountains. The River Grill is their onsite restaurant which has great food and the same extraordinary views.

Whether you are traveling by car or RV, make your reservations as soon as possible.

Roadquill has the website down for the Taste of Solvang and the dates are right. If you feel that the prices are too high in Solvang for a hotel/motel then try Buellton. There are several hotel/motels in Buellton that are way less expensive than in Solvang.

Travel Tips for Solvang

ARE WE IN DENMARK? NO, SOLVANG, USA

by travelgourmet

This is it. Travelling to Denmark without leaving California. No need for those that are from Denmark to become homesick in Solvang, California. Even the language is spoken by the locals. When in Solvang you are transported to Denmark via the streets, shops, and windmills.

Oh, you are in America, but look around at the buildings. Quaint, another time, another place feel. The shops bear this out in the tourists souvenirs and the restaurants in the food dishes offered. Smorgesbord anyone, why it's the Danish Buffet. How about an aebleskiver? That is a yummy donut type treat. Danish pastries at the many bakeries in town. Take the time to look around and see the design architecture of the buildings and remember to look out for the four passenger surreys and the horse drawn carriage on the streets. After all, this is Solvang, California, USA. The windmill is the most tranquil of all sights for me. The thought of the slightest breeze sending the blades silently in motion makes me realize that we can solve the energy problems with something that is so a reminder of Denmark. The windmill power is growing in California and we now have more windmills than Denmark. Of course, the old windmills of Denmark have all the charm and that's what awaits you in Solvang.

Farms and animals

by malianrob

I love coming to Solvang with my family. Its not too far from Los Angeles but its far enough to feel like you are in a different world. I love the vast open areas, the vineyards, the farms the greenery everywhere. Its so relaxing here and extremely beautiful. My daughter asked me if i would ever concider moving out here and I said Yes. I love this place. Not just Solvang but the whole Santa Ynez area. The kids loved being near all the animals and being involved in feeding them and interacting with them. I just loved watching the kids.

Danish look of Solvang

by doreenellen

Solvang has the Danish look and feel with the little windmills, and buildings often seen in Holland or Denmark. We only had a flying visit on our Californian bus trip but fell in love with the place. (Only wish I had had a digital camera at the time) We visited the area by coach and did a little shopping etc. Worth a trip if you are in the area. The whole look of the place, and the friendliness of the people we met in the shops etc.
