THE LOOK OF A SMALL VILLAGE

First time to Solvang and you most likely are spending only a couple of hours visiting the shops or eating at a restaurant. If you return, you will probably spend the night or even two at one of the quaint hotels/motels in town. The Royal Copenhagen Inn is one of those quaint locations that follows the theme of Solvang. It reminds you of a small village in Denmark.

At first, you believe that this must be homes or apartments in town. In reality, it is the clever design of the hotel to look like many homes. Each room has a different look, so ask what the rooms look like before booking a reservation. Some have a loft look, others high ceilings, one even has an upstairs patio. No on site breakfast but you are given vouchers for a local bakery. Early evening and a voucher for wine tasting at a nearby wine bar is included. Swimming Pool is available for guests and is within sight of most of the rooms. All in all, for the price, a good bargain. Nothing too fancy but a good night's sleep.

Unique Quality: It may look like a motel, but the feel is as if you were driving up to your own home. Each room has a different exterior that gives it that village look. Each room also has a different look inside. It's a look I like. What else is nice is that the staff is friendly.

The Pool Area

Unique Quality: The pool is heated year round and was very popular when we visited. Dogs are not allowed in the pool area.

A Great Motel in Town

This Inn is located in town within steps of shopping, restaurants, bakeries and all that Solvang has to offer. The four buildings resemble attached homes on a Danish street more so than a typical motel. Rooms are very large.

Unique Quality: The Inn is "dog friendly". You must call ahead though as there are a limited number of rooms to accomdate your pooch. It was very cool seeing VTers and other people with their dogs. A grassy field is behind the Inn.

There is a heated pool and lawn with barbecue.

Complimentary :
-wine tasting at two locations very close to the motel
-continental breakfast at Mortensens bakery which includes a pastry of your choice, orange juice and unlimited coffee.

An excellent choice Keith! I'd definitely stay there again.

Dreaming of Denmark

The Royal Copenhagen Inn is located in the heart of Solvang and is surrounded by shops, restaurants and bakeries. Turn of Mission Drive and you'll think that time has transported you back to Denmark. It's built in the style of a village (or neighborhood) with buildings looking like they would in Copenhagen.

We were lucky in that we got a great rate (especially with it being Easter weekend...we also must thank fellow VT'er TinKan for the rate) and the amenities were fabulous. Large room with a king sized bed, soft pillows, real coffee cups and glasses, shower stall and located off the main street (in a quiet neighborhood).

Unique Quality: As previously mentioned, the buildings were constructed to look like a street in Copenhagen, but you also have a fountain, authentic clock, decent sized pool and friendly service.

An added bonus was that we got 2 free wine tasting coupons and a certificate for free continental breakfast at Mortensen's Danish Bakery.

One of the most important things for us is that the Royal Copenhagen Inn is a pet friendly facility (one of a very few in the area).

The Royal Copenhagen Inn is located in the heart of Solvang and is surrounded by it's finest shops, restaurants and bakeries. The Royal Copenhagen will have you believing you have traveled to Denmark. The Inn is built in the style of a village, or neighborhood, with the outside of the buildings being exact duplicates of the buildings found on a street in Copenhagen

Unique Quality: The staff here is fantastic and very helpful.
The Inn is located so close to everything and the room was so good I was wanting to stay forever.
