My 2 young grandchildren and I stayed at the Best Western Station House Inn, Lake Tahoe from 7/5/06 thru 7/8/06.
Staff at both the Inn and the fabulous restuarant were courteous, and service was outstanding. My Grandchildren enjoyed the pool while I lounged reading at poolside, the access to the beach was within walking distance which we all enjoyed.
The free breakfast was absolutely fabulous (You must try their pancakes)
Our stay there was so enjoyable, that we plan on returning for a week or two after the Holidays. I highly recommend the Best wEstern Station house to everyone.
Had our time been a little more flexible, we would have chosen to stay longer than we did. My grandchildren can hardly wait until we go back there.

best place to stay in Tahoe, great price, great food, safe

Just got back from Tahoe and staying at the Best Western Station House Inn. Easlily summed up: great price for what you get, great restaurant with great food/wine, & great location--just 2 short blocks from the main casinos and shopping, etc. Quiet and 2 blocks from the shore. I feel safe staying here with my children because we can swim, walk or ride our bikes without a lot of traffic zooming by. I can enjoy an AM run through a beautiful golf course blocks away. Breakfast is included in the price and includes anything on their menu. All waitors are wonderul. The only exception was the gal at the bar who was obviously involved in a personal phone call and we had to wait & wait & wait to finally be able to order a glass of wine. The jacuzzi was warm and clean; the pool: too cold & slightly dirty. We also stayed here in August and the pool was great. After reading other reviews, we will stay here everytime we come to Tahoe, which is very often--it's a mere 57 miles from Reno, our home. Rooms are clean (stay in Rm #123 on the bottom level). Two sinks (inside and outside of bathroom), automatic nightlight, fridge cleverly hidden, and comfy--mattresses not very firm. Everytime we've stayed here (too numerous to count), we've never been disappointed. Our coffee pot didn't work yesterday AM and was immediately taken care of. No worries here. Enjoy!
A real gem off the beaten track

This is the second time we have stayed at the Station House Inn. Felt like we had a "resort" vacation at motel prices. The room is clean and has plenty of room for our needs. The full breakfast (included in your stay) begins with a ray of sunshine in the name of Bonnie the hostess. A great way to start the day.
We have found the wait staff to be efficient and friendly and never made us feel hurried. You can walk to the Heavenly Shops, the Gondola and casinos fairly easily. We recieved a beach pass to the private beach just down the road and found it to be very pleasant and clean. I look forward to returning to the Station House again - let's hope it stays exactly the same!
Breakfast makes it worthwhile

We stayed in a 2nd floor non-smoking room with a "pool view." The room was clean and comfortable, though the carpet looked somewhat worn. The shower was great, and the room had two sinks - one inside the bathroom and one outside - both with counter space. We didn't hear anything from neighboring rooms, but because our room faced the pool and the main parking lot, we did hear parking lot noises in the morning and kids playing in the pool in the afternoon. I might try requesting a different room location next time. There was free wireless internet in the lobby, but the free in-room internet requires a cable, which is not provided (but might be available at the front desk). Really, it was the inclusion of a complimentary hot breakfast that set this place apart - even though the menu was not extensive, it did include the basic eggs, pancakes, OJ, etc, and the staff was friendly and efficient.

We stayed here 2 nights, Aug. 2006. This property is an older one, but we thought it was very well maintained. The carpeting in our room was clean (unlike some others where we have stayed!), but the swivel rocking chairs a bit "dated". We had room 104, a king room and it faced the swimming pool. Since our bodies were still on Eastern time, we were sleepy by 9pm PST.....the children screaming in the pool got on our nerves a little. My husband said he heard the people talking (clearly) in the room behind us one night, but I slept like a baby. A fully cooked-to-order b'fast is included in the room rate and this makes staying here all worthwhile! The hostess with the mostess, "Bonnie" is a riot. The food is out of this world delicious! When the menu states, "2 Eggs".....you KNOW you are getting 2 eggs! I had pancakes & sausage one morning with the eggs and french toast & bacon the next morning; everything was delicious! When you consider our food & beverages were worth almost $20.......and a $3 tip was left; there is no way we could BUY that much food for $3.00!!!!!
Juanita, our check-in person was very friendly and gave us some good tips for touring the area......she was right on target too!
I don't think you can go wrong staying here!

We stayed at this hotel three years ago and liked it a lot, so we came back this year and invited friends to join us. I felt very badly that my friends had to pay the money they did for these accomodations! The rooms were clean enough, but very shabby -- carpets were worn and stained, bathrooms needed updating, etc. The beds were dreadful, and well beyond needing to be replaced. There was an outdoor concert one night, and we could hear it all loud and clear in our room. The front desk staff was not very customer service oriented. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon after check in time, and were informed that the rooms were not ready yet. Several other families were waiting for their rooms to be ready as well. When I asked, I was told rooms were often not ready for check in on Sundays (you'd think they might hire extra housekeeping help or post a later check in time if this is a regular problem!). While we waited for our rooms to be ready the front desk staff handled a number of customer complaints. Customer service and satisfaction were clearly not a priority of the front desk staff! The final straw for us was that the housekeeping staff tore apart our room and threw out our belongings before we had checked out. We came back from a walk into town and planned to load up the remainder of our things, use the bathroom, and check out....and discovered our room had been torn apart and our water, food, etc. thrown out. It was well before check out time. No one at the hotel expressed any regrets about this situation. Again, lousy customer service. The only good thing that remains about this hotel is the full breakfast served at the hotel restaurant each day. If you are travelling with a family, this is a good value. The restaurant service and food were consistently good. However, this is not enough to compensate for the rest of the experience, and we will NOT be staying at the Best Western Station House again!

Contrary to the other reviewer from Ithaca, NY, we found the room to be recently upgraded, with a great bed! The service was fine. We checked in after 5, so there was no wait. The location was nice (two blocks off the strip towards the lake.) There was an outdoor concert the night we stayed at Harveys (about 4 blocks away) but unless you were outside you couldn't hear a thing. The best part was the restaurant next door (LewMarNel). Full breakfast was included, with a charming hostess and great service. We ate dinner there, too. Great menu, mid-price range, fantastic wine list!! This is the place we will stay next trip back to the lake!
Wonderful Stay!

We recently booked a 3 night wedding package at the Station House Inn. After reading some of the reviews, I was a little apprehensive about what we would find when we arrived but I’m pleased to say that our stay was wonderful. The location is fantastic, a couple of blocks north to the lake and a couple of blocks south to the shopping/casino area – both an easy walk. Our room was spotless, not completely renovated but it had an updated bathroom, clean carpets and a comfortable bed. The dressers, TV, and chairs were old but all clean and in working condition. The service was excellent, the desk clerk very helpful and full of good information on where to go and what to do – she even recommended a good wedding chapel! The extras that came with our package (lake cruise, buggy ride, dinner coupons, etc.) made this an amazing value, as did the complementary breakfast each day. Speaking of breakfast, this isn’t a “continental” or “buffet” style breakfast, this is a full “sit down and order anything off the menu” breakfast! Some friends of ours flew out for the ceremony and they stayed at another hotel down the street from The Station House Inn and I can definitely say that the Station House looked like a 5 star hotel compared to their accommodations! After seeing our room they all said they would stay at the Station House next time. It’s not a fancy place and it isn’t new but I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a clean room at a fair price in a great location.
Excellent place to stay

We stayed here for 2 nights and found the place great value. Our room was a litte small but very neat and clean and modern. We did have a bit of a problem with some local residents having a loud all night party, but that was not the fault of the hotel. It is in a great location, quiet area but only a few minutes walk to the beach one way or the main area of the town the other way. There is wireless internet in the rooms, but we hadn't taken our computer, but we could use one free in the reception area.
The breakfast was fabulous - full menu, have whatever you like, and Bonnie is great. We ate at the restaurant one evening too and the service and meal was great. Highly recommend this hotel
