More about Paradice Motel
Can't say enough!
We were in town for a wedding and in the weeks prior I was searching on TripAdvisor to determine where we should stay to get a real Lake Tahoe experience. I do love the comforts of 4 star resorts, but you can stay in a chain hotel anywhere...for our Lake Tahoe trip I wanted something very local. I found it in Paradice Motel. All the reviews were spot on, from the friendly owners greeting us (their dog is a sweetie!) to the daily treats that we grew to look forward to after returning each afternoon. Highly recommend checking it out, as the location is perfect also.
Charming and -Welcoming!
Our family - myself, my husband and our two daughters aged 15 and 8 - spent just one night at the Paradice Motel and we loved it.
We booked directly with the hotel and the communication concerning possible weather and travel problems were readily dealt with.
As stated, the fruit, chocolate, Perrier and all the other little extras were most welcome - as was the separate room for the girls.
The owners, and Thurman the dog, let us check in early and recommended a fab restaurant, Fire and Ice, for us to eat at in the evening. The morning coffee and pastries were great too.
If we are ever in the area again we would not hesitate to stay here again and would readily reccommend the Paradice to oujr friends.
A More Personal Touch
Paradice Motel lives up to its ranking of #1 on Trip Advisor! From the outset, emailing with Paradice for info and reservations was quick and easy. Before arrival, they were able to answer our request for an extra night quickly, and in our favor.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Jason and Perrine, the wonderful young couple who own and operate the motel. The 2 bedroom suite is appointed very nicely using modern pieces from Ikea and modern colors. The beds were very comfortable and conducive for rest after our days riding the area slopes, unlike many of the local chain locations I’ve stayed at in ski towns. The bed linens were very nice, as were the towels. Overall, things were excellent. The rooms and bathroom are well maintained, and most importantly, kept very clean. No dirt, mold, mildew here!
The location is perfect. It’s close enough to walk to all of the Heavenly Village stores and restaurants, the casinos, and just off of Tahoe Blvd enough that you don’t get burdened by the noise of traffic. For example, the walk to my surgical meeting at Embassy Suites was 6 minutes, and the Heavenly gondola was 4 minutes.
The only thing that we could have wanted was a small sitting area in the room, but size does not allow for this. However, when you are this close to town and in Tahoe, there is little reason to be sitting around in your room, and we found that this was not a big deal.
To exaggerate the personal service, friendliness, and overall experience at Paradice would be impossible. From the nightly pampering with turndown service, drinks, waters, chocolates, and fresh fruits, to the warm daily greetings and conversation, Paradice is a rare find. We give our sincerest endorsement to Perrine and Jason and their wonderful establishment. It is encouraging to see a young couple doing such a fine job! If you are a traveler who likes the comfortable feel of home, along with the personalized service and friendliness you would demand from a Ritz location, you will find it here sans the attitude!
My family and I stayed at the Paradice over President's Day weekend. We stayed in the two room suite. The property is one block from state line where all the action in Tahoe is. (If you like that sort of thing) You can walk to restaurants, shopping and casinos. The Heavenly gondala is about a block and a half away. Very convienent location. It is off the main strip, so there is no traffic noise, unlike other motels in this area. The best part of the stay were the rooms. The beds are awsome. There are soft cotton sheets, feather beds, and cushy pillows. The decor is lovely as well. There are special touches that make it feel like you are not staying in a typical motel. It is clean and well cared for. There was not a T.V. in the second room for our kids, which was a bummer, so we all crammed together on our bed in the front room to watch T.V. ,after a tiering day on the slopes. There also are no ammenities, such as sauna or hot tub. This is a small property, and they make up for what is missing by adding personal touches. There was a little mini fridge for drinks and simple small items, which was great. When leaving the hotel, the owner packed us "goody bags" for our car ride home, which included bottled water, crackers, and chocolate. Very nice touch. I would deffinitly recommend this motel, and I will be back again for sure.
Great Value & Location
Stayed at Paradice for a 3 day ski weekend in late February. It isn't fancy like the casino hotels but it is clean, well maintained, nice decorating touches and a great value. Jason & Perrine were great hosts and I was impressed with the little touches like the welcome note in the room and sparkling water & chocolates each night. It is a short 2 block walk to the Heavenly gondola and just a few more blocks to the casino's. We also liked the Driftwood Cafe up the street for breakfast each morning. Hoping to go back next year for a long weekend and would surely stay at the Paradice again.
Better than average, but not paradise
After reading the reviews, I expected this place to be paradise, but in fact, it's just nice. No problems, and friendly folks, and the location is great. It's just hard to give 5 stars to a basic hotel room that costs over $200 a night. We booked the semi-suite which isn't a suite at all. It's a regular motel room - the type you find everywhere - with one plastic chair to sit in along with two queen beds. That's it. I'd much rather give my money to these guys, who are obviously trying to make a go of it than to some casino, but that fact is I've gotten similar rooms at that casinos for about half the price, so while it's pretty good, it's not paradise.
From the arrival greeting and orientation from Jason and Perrine to our Easter leaving gift the stay was brilliant. Room exactly as described on website and by those who have reviewed.
Jason and Perrine are both very knowledgable on the local area and services, including the different ski resorts.
Good location, off main road but in walking distance of Heavenly base station, casinos, shops and restaurants.
If they were to improve the motel it would be to add a hot tub.
Keep up the good work, we'll be back!
We stayed here for two nights and really loved the charm of the place; and the fantastic service we received here - and I don't say this just because we were upgraded to a better room when we arrived. On the face of it, it looks like an ordinary motel - and there are lots that line the edge of Lake Tahoe - but it's clear from the moment you walk through the bedroom door, that the owners are really proud of their business. The decor is just great and was totally unexpected given the 'motel' label and the small touches such as chocolates, perrier water, fresh fruit and great toiletries made our stay stand out. The location is great too - moment from Heavenly and the casinos. I would definitely recommend a stay here!
All Motels should be like this
If only all Motels were like this! a very special motel with a personal touch. A welcome message on the chalk board when you arrive, Easter Eggs on the bed on Easter day, chocolates, fruit, mineral water left for you to come back to in the evening or after a day out snowboarding. Very friendly owners who are happy to help in any way. And when we left we were given food and drink for our journey. A great location to walk to the Heavenly Village Gondola or to the Casinos and restaurants.
As good as it gets!
What a fantastic little motel!
We stayed for 2 nights and wished it could have been longer. Everything about it was absolutely great. We stayed in room 124 which is a deluxe king with a very spacious bathroom.
The decor was up to date and individual - the owners have really put a lot of time and effort into making their rooms special. The bed was comfortable, (they even do a turndown service with hershey kisses) and everything was spotlessly clean.
The real winner was their attention to detail - as others have said, the welcome note on the chalk board and in particular I liked the unobtrusive background music which was playing in our room when we arrived. And finally when we checked out they gave us a little goodies bag with water and snacks for our onward journey.
Living room sports bar!
Restaurants for a bachelor party
Can you recommend any restaurants in S. Lake Tahoe for a 12-person bachelor party? Good food with good entertainment? Anything similar to Vegas' "Rum Jungle"?
RE: Restaurants for a bachelor party
Planet Hollywood may be your best bet. Not great options that I remember. Tahoe is not quite Vegas
Re: Restaurants for a bachelor party
the mex food downstairs at harvey's (cabo wabo) would be my first choice, fun cheap, loud, blackjack tables and hot girls all over the place...then opal at mont bleu (really expensive but closest thing to vegas) then hard rock at harveys...forget planet hollywood.
also, instead of hiring entertainment...it's much better to head to the orchid in reno via limo bus than to hire entertainment at the lake...really mixed results there (after 6 bach. parties in tahoe)
