I'm getting married in November, but unfortunately my fiance and I can't take our honeymoon until January. We want to see snow, shopping, nightlife, and maybe just a couple of Romantic/Quiet evenings for ourselves. Skiing isn't necessary, but Snow-Tubing, or Snowmobile Rentals would be fun. My first post, very excited about visiting South Lake Tahoe!
Try to have a meal at either Evan's Gourmet Cafe or Cafe Fiore, both are very nice for romantic meals. :)
Congratulations on your up-coming marriage! You couldn't have picked a more spectacular, romantic place for a honeymoon! Suggestion for a romantic evening: Edgewood Golf Course Restaurant--great food, service and views. It's stays open in the winter. There's so much nightlife all around you at the casino hotels--try MontBleu's club--I think it's called Opal. You didn't mention if you are looking for accommodation recommendations-are you? Depending on the weather, try heading over to Squaw Valley--there's great shopping and restaurants at the base as well as at the Resort at Squaw Creek. Even if you don't plan on skiing, take a gondola ride at either Heavenly or Squaw Valley for the magnificent scenery and grab a casual lunch at the restaurants at the top. There's also great shopping in Heavenly village. Another romantic suggestion--take a sleigh ride with Borges sleigh rides: www.sleighride.com. Have a fantastic honeymoon!
Congratulations! I would definitely check out some of the resources on the web for your visit. I really like Gotahoenorth.com and visitinglaketahoe.com (the visitors bureau website) It was great to get all of the information in one place. Both of them offer information on restaurants, ski information, park information and all kinds of other stuff. It really helped me plan my trip to tahoe. Now I can't wait to take a romantic trip with my hubby too. Let me know how it goes and what you really like!
Well, I guess if you came here, to Lake Tahoe, your main reason was to see the lake! Just ensure you leave enough time to do just that, not like me, too busy taking in the sights elsewhere, haha. Seriously, you will need much longer to see the beauty here. You'll want to stop everywhere, and take your time just looking!! I hope to go back some day (or two!). Just remember, drive clockwise for the best views.
These natural hot springs are a favorite getaway. Less than an hour from South Lake Tahoe, these springs a great for just soaking. There are good hiking trails as well.
Located in an alpine meadow just outside the town of Markleeville. Follow Highway 89 to Markleeville, then follow the signs.
This little coffee shop was located across the street from our hotel in S. Tahoe.
Since I don't like coffee, the chai was good but has a bit of a kick from too much cinnamon.
The serve bagel sandwiches which were pretty tasty.
As you drive around Lake Tahoe you will see there are many little restaurants that have wonderful expresso coffees and desserts.
Of course, they have menus for full meals too. You can sit outside on decks or balconies and enjoy the wonderful view of the lake.
There lots to see and explore around Heavenly Village. Lots of wonderful places to sit and enjoy the outdoors and some very lovely sculptures and beautiful field of flowers. There is also a beautiful fountain in the middle.
