Best Located Decent Hotel in Downtown
I haven't stayed there, but I really don't need to. The Howard Johnson corporate chain is certainly adequate for business and traveler needing a short stay. The Express Inn in Stockton is ideally located across the water from Weber Point, and within easy walking distance of all the downtown office buildings, theatres, etc. It has a swimming pool.
Unique Quality: Its not a tall building, but the second or third floors on the NORTH side must have good views facing the waterfront area. The south side has a view of the crosstown freeway overpass and probably more noise, so don't reserve there. The freeway offramps though are conveniently located a block away, so business person's in a rush can easily get going anywhere. Again, this isn't a resort hotel, but the downtown location is good for anyone not connected to locals who want to jog around the downtown in the morning.
