Wake up! It's 4:30 in the morning and you are getting ready to find out if you can take the rush of lifting into the air in a hot air balloon. Hot Air Ballooning is available in Temecula with CALIFORNIA DREAMIN' and they are experts at giving you a thrill or two. Most lift-offs take place before 7:00am due to the air/wind conditions and FAA rules. So, you arrive before the sun tells you to arise, it's morning.
After all the prep work to get a balloon ready, see my travelogue on getting a balloon ready, you are instructed as to what to do and jump out is not an option. With the roar of the butane driven jets filling the balloon with hot air, you start to lose your balance a bit, but hey, that's why my hands are frozen on the side of the basket. Basket? Did I say basket. Yes, and I'm not singing the song "A tisket, a tasket", it's more like "A risket, a casket". After a few seconds, you realize the bottom of the basket will hold all of you without making me a bombing run. Look around, right. I can barely open my eyes, whoa, that's high. The Temecula Valley vineyards are below and I am handed a glass of local champagne. What a surprise that was gratefully drunk. Now, the sky was my home. Goodbye. You don't have to bring anything except warm clothes, a camera, and an empty stomach or else bring the Charmin. The experience in the air will last anywhere from 45 minutes to one hour. Great crew and super pilot do most of the work. Charming breakfast after the flight included. Thank you very much.
