The suburbs that comprise Ventura County are home to families attracted by good jobs, good schools, and safe communities as well as corporations attracted by low corporate tax rates. Westlake Village is an upscale planned community with quaint shops and chain restaurants. Thousand Oaks, several miles to the north, is home to biotechnology giant Amgen and sports housing communities, office parks, and shopping malls. Both cities adjoin the Santa Monica mountains and provide access to an extensive network of hiking trails that lead to the beaches of Malibu in the south. Simi Valley is home to the Reagan Presidential Library and ranch, and Oxnard is home to beautiful, empty beaches and fields and an annual Strawberry Festival.
