Wild West Steak

by KiKitC about O.B.'s Pub & Restaurant

O.B.'s is located on historic Donner Pass Road in the town of Truckee, CA. The building itself reflects much of the town's history. It began as a drinking house, where card games and more were offered to the patrons. It then became a bakery, and now houses a great place for a steak and ale. The decor of the restaurant is done in rustic, old west decor. You almost feel as if the horses are hitched right outside the window...minus the smell of course. After riding through all that cattle country to the east, a great steak sounded like a great idea. And O.B's delivered.

Soda Springs is about 13miles from Truckee. There is no public shuttle that runs this route. Taxi from Truckee will be ~$35.

Directions and taxi contact information can be found:

It astounding in the area of all these nature lovers there is not a single shuttle from the Grass Valley/Nevada City area to the ski areas. Not one.
Everyone drives and most likely alone. We need a shuttle van that goes from Colfax, Gras Valley and Nevada City to the ski areas and Truckee/Tahoe area. It is ridiculous one does not exist at this point. Great business venture for someone!

Honestly, it might sound like a great venture, but it is not cost effective. It has been tried and failed. There are not enough regular paying customers to pay for the fuel of the shuttle let alone the actual vehicle or wages of the driver.

Truckee: Gateway to the Sierra Nevadas

by Tom_Fields

This town, high in the Sierra Nevada mountains, is on I-80, west of Reno. If you're heading west into California, through the Donner Pass, this is on the way.

It's a great way to beat the intense summer heat. Winter is very cold and snowy, so it's best to avoid going then. If you do, have snow chains on your tires.
