University Town with Farming and Bedroom Community
"Turlock has a California State University Campus"
One of the smaller campuses, the buildings are nevertheless widely spaced and the landscaping of trees and lawn provides many places for students to escape for meditation. The Campus has several man-made lakes and artificial creeks. Student population is a mixure of the local hispanic, asian, and suburban/farm residents, and those who commute from places like Hollister, Stockton, Modesto, and elsewhere within the San Joaquin Valley. I lecture English classes here, and once brought my Venezuelan niece for a visit of an American land grant college and observation of California university students.
