Vistor Information Board and Hotel Direct Access
by Yaqui
The Vistor Center is located at 89 South California Street Suite #C right on the corner of Santa Clara street too! It is right there as you walk into the building.
This hotel direct access board I thought was pretty cool. As soon as the nice lady told us there might be vacancies at Best Western I used this board to call. Just picked up the receive and hit the button and I got the front desk. It was tickled that this worked. So go check it out!

Ventura County Fair
by Yaqui
We hadn't planned on going. We only ventured down here because I just wanted to take pictures of the lights against the dark sky, but we thought what the heck! It was fun and we enjoyed ourselves a lot! They have this as a annual event at Seaside Park. Really pretty because it's next to the ocean:-)
Directions:
101 W. Harbor Blvd.
If on the 101 Ventura Freeway, exit onto Seaward Ave turn west and right on Harbor Blvd. It is at the end next to the Metro Link!
Enjoy a meal in the Harbor
by HotSpotJ about Scotch and Sirloin
Scotch and Sirloin was chosen as the site for my company Christmas party. As with any large group, a few times the service lagged a bit, but overall they did a very good job keeping up with some of my co-workers demands. The food here was very good, very filling, and I'm sure many trips to the elliptical in the gym were due to my one afternoon here. Scotch and Sirloin serves only dinner, so unless you pre-book for a large lunch party, make reservations for after 4PM. Very good food with great waterfront dining! The Onion Rings were HUGE and delicious, as was the sirloin and the cheesecake.
Mission San Buenaventura
by spgood301
This beautiful building, right in downtown Ventura, is still a working church. In fact, it hosted a wedding during our visit. No we weren't invited...a good thing considering how we were dressed!
It's such a joy that the Mission is still operational. To hear the churchbells chiming from this historic structure, especially signifying such a happy occasion, is quite a joy.
We weren't able to go inside because of the wedding. It's right in downtown Ventura-you can't miss it. Nor would you want to.
Hiking the Channel Islands
by Tom_Fields
Well, you could just go out to the islands and return. But it's far better to take a hike. The day trips allow several hours on the island--enough time for a pretty good hike.
On Santa Cruz Island, the passengers debark at one of the coves. I took a hike goes inland from the cove, up the canyon to the cliffs overlooking the sea, then on back down to the cove.
