I've lived here for about 10 years and missed out on the best places until about a year ago when I moved accross town. Out past Lovers Lane and Golden West high school is farmland. There are lots of backroads for biking and picnicing. Take 198 N to the lovers lane exit, head west on lovers lane, go down to Houston and head N. Go down Houston to Cutler Park and take a walk back to the St. John's river, and enjoy the very non-California atmosphere.
