Watsonville CA

Yup- My ignorance is springing up again-
Anybody know anything about Watsonville, California? I was asked if I want to relocate there, but I know nothing about it...
Any news?

Jeff...hmmmm, it will all depend on what you want to do once you get there. My first reaction is: Watsonville. What to do...Lets see...wait for the next earthquake; watch the artichokes grow, ah...hmmm....

On the bright side, close to the beach; pop down to Montery or Carmel for the evening or head north to San Jose. SF is a bit far for the evening but a weekend would be easily done.

It's not Denver...that's for sure. I only know the "downside" as I drive through on the way to Monterey. There is a very nice resort area Pahara Dunes close by , but that is right on the beach and is only a "summer beach house" type area.

There are still a lot of "truck farms" in the ares so produce is fresh but if you're looking for city life you'll have a bit of a drive.

Yeah, Jeff.....the closest thing you'll get to "LEATHER shops" in Watsonville are the saddle shops!
I doubt they have "crypts" in these parts! ;->

Actually, Watsonville is surrounded by a pleasant area and seems to be booming with houses and businesses every year. It's quite close to Santa Cruz, actually, which is a lovely area surrounded by beaches and mountains! Santa Cruz is chock full of surfers, hippies and bohemians.......which group would you fit in with? ;->

Make the move Jeff! Then you'll be closer to US !!!!! ;->

Back when I lived in that area, the only two things you needed to know about Watsonville were strawberries and artichokes. Since then I understand that it has seen the same kind of real estate price inflation as many other places within a 2-hour drive of Silicon Valley. It's not a bad place, but I'd worry seriously about dying of boredom. It's inland, about 40 minutes from Monterey, and maybe a little closer to Santa Cruz. Perhaps you can live somewhere slightly more interesting and do a reverse commute.

Exaggeration.. it's closer to 80 miles to SF.

15 to Santa Cruz (HWY1), 25 to San Jose(17), 40 to SF (101).
