A bike tour starting/finishing point
by kalkahuna
Other than biking thru the rolling hills of Tuscany, Napa Valley is one of the best road rides around.
Yountville is a good starting and finishing point as there are a lot of "Crossing" roads that go through the vineyards.
And it's always nice to finish a long ride with a Guiness on the patio at Pacific Blues Cafe. A bicycle.
Just about any type. If you are in shape, you can get away with doing the Silverado Trail and Hwy 29 on an old Schwinn paperboy bike, but we suggest a good 18 speed bike.
Pretty decent shoulders on the roads but you always have to error on the side of caution when biking anywhere!
And where do the Baskets go to rest?
by Geisha_Girl
The wicker baskets are propped up and loaded onto the trucks then whisked away to its next destination.
The Napa Valley Balloon Company usually do no more than 2 rides per day.
As you can see, it is a whole entire process to get the balloons safely up and running.......then taking them down and preparing them for the next journey.

"The Northern California Coast"
Go to Sonoma County and into the Russian River Valley near Bodega Bay and then further down the coast to Big Sur (El Grande Sur - The Big South) see this part of the world. It is sumptuous. The wines, the mountains, the ocean, the 1200 year old redwoods holding the very heavens in their branches.

"Festival of Lights"
Every Friday after Thanksgiving the City of Yountville offers the Festival of Lights.
Parade, music, art, food, beer and wine tasting and the lighting of the town's Christmas tree...and that siginfies the start of the "restaurant dash".
I seems like immediately after the lighting the crowd sprints off to many of the fine local restaurants.
Most of the festivities are held at the Vintage 1870 Winery but there are also booths across the street at Beard Plaza.
"Vintage 1870"
It's always nice to get a "few tastes" and just sit and watch the people.
""The hills are aliiiiive...""
The view from the upstairs back porch of the Vintage 1870.
"Lending a helping hand"
Always willing to assist a Silver Oak employee!
"Now entering Napa Valley"
After years of passing "The Crusher" and just waving, we decided to stop.
Nice area on a clear day.
