Smelly, dirty, substandard. A real nightmare. This hotel does not live up to what you would expect from a Comfort Inn. Our fist warning was when we were bowled over by the very strong smell of incense that the manager was burning when we walked in the front door. Next, there was a dispute about the rate. Our travel agent had quoted us the wrong price. Instead of negotiating, the manager insisted on charging us full rack rate dispite having a AAA discount. Next, we asked if we could view the room. NO WAY. Not unitil we paid and he charged our credit card. We paid and viewed the room. It was dirty and smelly. We once again tried to negotiate, this time prefering to go elswhere. We were stuck. He had our money and it was past the 2:00 (early) deadline. The manager knew he had us and was not going to budge.
We decided to go elswhere anyway, figuring we wouldn't rest well anyway. We went accross the street to the Baymont Inn and Suites. It was a clean new property with a sauna and a nice indoor pool that the kids loved. And the rate? Quite a bargain. It was $20 less than the Comfort Inn.
Stay clear of this hotel. It seems to me this guy knows he has a substarndard hotel and is using the Comfort Inn name to get about $40 too much for the room. Book at the Baymont Inn instead if you must stay in Yreka.
