Maroon Bells Campsite: Camping among the Aspen
Subject to reservation, you can camp at one of a couple of Maroon Bells Campsites. The sites are well marked and sit alongside a beautiful river.
The views and hiking opportunities alone make this an attractive option. However, keep in mind that the weather can change on a dime. And while the Fall days are warm, fall nights are below freezing!

Silver Bar, Bell and Queen campgrounds: Camping near Aspen
Staying in Aspen can get really expensive. These three campgrounds off Maroon Creek road are an alternative.
All are located off CO 82 and Maroon Creek Road. Silver Bar is about 5 miles down Maroon Creek Road, with Silver Bell and Silver Queen just past it.

Pitkin County Jail: The county's finest accomodations
An August 1995 Associated Press reported the Pitkin County jail in Aspen contained only praise from former "inmates."
The jail, which has a library, gym, videocassettes for rent, and luxurious views of Red Mountain. Dewi Sukarno, widow of the former Indonesian dictator, who once did 24 days for assault. "I will treasure [memories of the jail] the rest of my life."
