BREATHTAKING BRECKENRIDGE!!!!!
"Snowmobiles!!!!"
I had the pleasure of taking a snowmobile trip through the mountains with an interesting and engaging guide who was friendly and informative. The tour started out near the Breckenridge Ski Resort, where my brother and husband took to the mountains with their snowboards, and I with my 6 year old opted for a more relaxed day on snowmobiles. The scenery was incredible as was the drive into town from the base of the mountain.
Our Tour Guide made sure to make various stops along the way to point out items of interest and give us a break from the high speed chase, (which was exhilarating!!!!) We stopped in a place that was dubbed "The playground" Where he let everyone have free reign of their mobiles to fly across the powdery snow at breakneck speeds!
We were also able to check out the emergency shelter, (one of many) where if dire circumstances were to occur, himself, the other guides and any people in their company could ride out the worst of weather. It wasn't much, a small stack of dry wood, a bar-b-q pit and a couple rough cot-like beds were crowded in under a tarp between a small stand of trees. Surprisingly inside the shelter was noticeably warmer than outside.
We were lucky to have INCREDIBLY favorable weather on this day out!!!
"THE LONG DRIVE UP!"
The Trip up the snow packed road was as breathtaking as everything else, and halfway up, we hit a small, pretty tamed "blizzard" which limited the view but in no way distracted from the hypnotizing scenery. We caught several views of closed ski runs and snow packed trees, the snow was at least 4-8 feet high on the side of the roads in some places, never less than 3 feet high, most of the snow was freshly fallen and pristine enough to blind! The complete undisturbed feeling gave a sense of a winter escape of your dreams, and really set the mood for snowplay!
"Emergency shelter"
We were also able to check out the emergency shelter, (one of many) where if dire circumstances were to occur, the guides and any people in their company, or those who were lucky enough to find one, could ride out the worst of weather. It wasn't much, a small stack of dry wood, a bar-b-q pit and a couple rough cot-like beds were crowded in under a tarp between a small stand of trees. Surprisingly inside the shelter was noticeably warmer than outside.
