Where is this castle rock - which country ?

what?!?!?

If you look at the location breadcrumb trail towards the top of the page you can see it's in Utah. Sometimes when you read a tip and click the "post a question" feature, these questions appear a bit out of the blue in the forum :-)

Yes silly me. My excuse is it's 4 in the morning ( & raining ). Anyway shame about the poor boy although you have to ask what he was doing up there in the first place.

what?!?!?

Reality is someone hang gliding is safer than someone "falling off".

Castle rock is the largest rock in front of you when you are at Wahweap marina on Lake Powell near Page, Arizona.

Travel Tips for Castle Rock

Hike up Castle Rock

by Stephen-KarenConn

One of the most interesting things we did in Castle Rock was to spend a leisurely two hours hiking up to the base of the rock and back. The easy to moderate trail is located within the 60 acre Rock Park. Our six year old grandaughter made it up the same trail with her first grade class.

At the base of the rock there are benches, spectacular views in all directions, and a wide trail that completely encircles the rock. At the park you will also find picnic tables and shelters.

Rock Park is open daily, but is closed from sunset to sunrise. There is no admission charge.

Daniels Park

by Stephen-KarenConn

Daniels Park is situated atop a long ridge just north of Castle Rock and offers splendid views of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, from Pike's Peak to the south to the Rocky Mountain National Park to the north. There are several scenic picnic areas along the ridge, a picnic shelter, and pit toilets. In this photo Stephen is overlooking the private Castle Pines Golf Club which is the longest course and the only Colorado stop on the PGA tour.

Unfortunately the views from Daniels Park are marred somewhat by the effects of a devastating forest fire which ravaged this area in the summer of 2003. However, time and nature are working quickly to heal the scars. Even with the charred trees, the views will still take your breath away. This panorama is one of the last things the famed cowboy Kit Carson saw before he died. It is an excellent vantage point from which to watch the sun set over the mountains.

Daniels Park is about 8 miles northwest of Castle Rock. Take Hwy. 85 (Santa Fe Road) north, then turn east at the directional sign before reaching the small town of Sedalia. The road at the Park is unpaved.

The park is always open and admission is free.

Small Town Charm

by AVG2319

Situated about 20 miles south of denver and north of Colorado Springs off of I-25. You have a great view of both the Rocky Mountains and Pikes Peak on a clear day. It is the county seat of Douglas County at an elevation of 6200 feet.
Small town with a nice downtown, lots of places to eat, great views, and most big box stores, and of course the outlet mall. Castle Rock is named for the prominent rock formation that overlooks the Town. Although first settled in the last 1800's most homes in the area have been constructed in last 15 years.
