Relocating to Carson
by smemte
We are moving from Missouri to Colorado in March 2007 and I'm a little nervous about traveling during that time of year. Is there any advice that someone can give me? Will I have to cross that Red Cliff Bridge? How is it during that time of year on US 24? Are there any alternate routes that are safer during that time of year? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Traveling in March to Colorado is kind of a crap shoot. Sometimes it is perfectly fine. However, we do tend to get a lot of snow in March so you want to keep an eye on the weather. If the weather is at all bad, I would avoid US-24. It is a two lane road and on the plains it can get nasty. If the weather is marginal, then you can stay on I-70 all the way into to Denver and then come south from Denver on I-25. You will see the signs for Fort Carson on the southern end of town. Regarding the bridge, I'm not sure what you are referring to? There are no major bridges to cross on the route you are coming through. You should be fine. The weather is usually fine that time of year. If a storm does come up, you can wait a day or two and things will be fine. The weather never sticks around long.

I lived in Colorado for a short while. I loved every minute of it. I loved waking up every morning, opening my curtains and seeing the mountains in the distance. We did numerous things when I lived in Colorado. One that stands out of all the activities we did was the Garden of the Gods. It is definitely a must see.
Colorado Springs is not that conservative at all
by midwesterner19
Colorado Springs has a reputation as being a very, very conservative religious town. This is an inaccurate assessment of Colorado Springs as a whole. The vast majority of the religious conservatives live in the northern side of Colorado Springs in neighborhoods like Erindale and Briargate. Downtown and Westside Colorado Springs are very forward thinking and progressive. South-eastern Colorado Springs in my opinion is likely the most integrated area in the United States. Colorado Springs is one of most integrated, lowest poverty and highest earning cities in the country and is far from being a backwards conservative city. My opinion is Colorado Springs is much more progressive than Denver
Cave of the Winds
by leafmcgowan
A pricey, but cute small cave with some the scenic gems of mineral growth in Colorado. Beautiful overlook of the canyon and rich with history, this rustic cave has a short tour and fun stories to go with it. Alternatively you can do the lantern tour to get a taste of what exploring the cave by lantern was like. While I'm spoiled by famous caves like Carlsbad Caverns ... if you're in the area, its worth a gander if you've got the bucks to spend. I would recommend they drop their prices ... but overall me and my daughter had fun. Rating: 3 stars out of 5.
You like Tequila??
by PelLihi about Tequila's
Tequila's is pretty much the same as Rum Bay and it's just across the street. Actually I think the two clubs are owned by the same guy. Music, beer,....the usual. Get there early, the lines can get long. They've got all kinds of Tequila's (who would have guessed?!?) none
Pike's Perk
by leafmcgowan about Pike's Perk
One of the local hotspots for coffee and events - Pikes Perk sits on Tejon near Tejon and Pikes Peak. Large spacious dual-floored shop, good chai, good beverages, and good service. Comfortable. Wireless internet is offered, however you have to pay once and subscribe to a local network. Rating: 4 stars out of 5. Visited 12/23/2005. Chai
