Bandshell in Acacia Park
by OlenaKyiv
The stage (bandshell), located at the southern end of the Acacia Park was added in 1914, replacing a wood frame constructed in 1888.
Before I have read the history about park's bandshell, I was sure it was recent addition to the park. It was interesting to know that people of the end of XIX and of the beginning of XX centuries were as eager to perfomances on the stages as we are, the people of XXI century.
Rock Climbing
by goingsolo
Rock climbing is allowed in the park, although those wishing to do so are required to stop at the visitor's center and obtain a permit.
Be very careful about climbing in this park though, if you're not an experienced climber. The rocks are comprised of red sandstone and can break or crumble easily.
There is a little restaurant...
by John195123
There is a little restaurant on Weber, right before it crosses (going north) Jackson, then dead-ends. It is called the 'Diner' and has good BBQ and other sandwiches, not to mention ice-cream!!!!! Weber is just west of Nevada Ave. There is a Safeway and a bunch of other stores in the Bon Center (which is the back drop for the Diner. Not beautiful, but good enough. Just for locational reasons: East to West.

80's Thursdays at Thunder and Buttons
by leafmcgowan about Thunder and Buttons
A new night in the works getting Colorado Springs back into the 80's flair with the amazing DJ Gypsy enchanting all with some of the best of the era. Definitely a much needed new night for the area. A saloon hosts the night that is named after some local history. In 1888 a Colorado City resident named Prairie Dog O'Byrne had a carriage pulled by two elk he named 'Thunder' and 'Buttons'. His infamous partner from the Red light district Laura Bell would race this carriage up and down the very street where this saloon is located. This saloon was established and named in their honor. Established in 1978 it burnt down 10 years later. It was re-established in 2004 by an Air Force Academy graduate as Thunder and Buttons II. It now hosts a pretty popular bar and grill with various entertainment nights such as this 80's night to mark up its calendar for fun and frolick. DJ Gypsy is definitely providing a good draw of music and charm to spice up everyone's thursday nights. I hope this night continues as it is definitely a blessing for the local scene. Looking forward to more fine evenings having a blast to the past. 80's dress will get you drink specials
A fantastic snack on a hot day!
by basstbn about Colorado City Creamery
Walking along Colorado Avenue in Old Colorado City, we saw lots of people eating ice cream cones - a tempting looking treat on a warm afternoon. As we approached the Colorado City Creamery, I saw a sign in the window advertising a sugar-free ice cream, and had to try it. As you can see from the attached photo, this is a bright and colorful place. The Moo Cow - a sugar free ice cream treat that tastes just like angel food. It is amazing stuff.
